I say…

The Packaging: A glass bottle with a frosted exterior finish. It comes with a cap and a pump for hygienic dispensing.

The Scent: Now this is something pretty out of character for La Mer – this foundation has a rather strong herbal scent. For my compatriot Singaporeans, the best way to describe this would be “koyok” scent – you know that scent when you visit a TCM sinseh? Now personally, I don’t dislike it – it is kinda therapeutic – but it can be an acquired liking for some, especially those who are more used to fragrant scents. The scent is also strong enough to linger around your skin for at least an hour after application – just sayin’.

The Texture: A smooth, lightweight and creamy foundation that spreads and blends easily.

The Verdict: Putting aside the initial “eeps” when I see the price tag (will update again, but I recall it being more than SGD$100), I actually really like this. It’s moisturising enough for oily-combi skintypes, and has a very nice matte-glowy finish that’s enough to convey a sense of relatively well-hydrated skin. On my cheeks (at the hollows under the cheekbones), it’s hydrating enough so my cheeks don’t look dry or flakey, while on the oilier portions such as the nose bridge and the chin, it somehow manages to tone down the shine. Note that there’s not much oil control on this, so about 3 hours in, the shine started appearing. This is nothing that a dab or two with a sheet of tissue can’t settle. This wouldn’t last for an entire day, but t’s buildable should you decide to do some touching up It feels ultra light on the skin and yet gives medium-level coverage. It also doesn’t oxidise/get patchy. It’s definitely one of the top-rated foundations on my list if I’m looking for a natural-healthy skin finish😀
