I’m in a total rage mode today – I know, I know, it’s bad for health, but seriously, some colleagues can be so dumb and daft that I’ll be pulling my hair out (or rather, hoping to pull theirs out) in an attempt to find out if they really have ears. Their lack of ability to listen to instructions is just baffling, like the mystery of bus arrival schedules in Singapore -3 minutes, 5 minutes, and then the next bus comes in 22 minutes. Dafug~~~! Anyhoos, since I’m totally raging today, I decided to review something to calm my arse down, and I’ve opted for a pretty product!

The Packaging: As pretty as it looks in pictures, it does pale in comparison to the previous version simply cos it’s a cardboard box. When I first opened it, I actually thought it was a travel-sized/deluxe version cos the usual Meteorites always come in a metal tub. The size is also significantly smaller – this can fit in the palm of your hand rather snugly. It still comes with a fluffy sponge puff applicator, but without the ribbon strap across, so I end up having to pick it up with my fingernails instead. I’m a little meh about this, since over an extended period of time, it will result in the puff fabric becoming distorted. The balls are also smaller than usual (lemme know if you want a comparison shot), but I’m not fussed
The Scent: The signature Guerlain Meteorite violet scent that sort of bathes your face in it whenever you’re applying the blush.
The Application: Personally, I prefer to use a blush brush to apply this, instead of the fabric puff. Firstly, as you can see from the photos, the colour distribution on the puff is uneven. The puff seems to have a more practical usage in terms of keeping them balls from rolling around whilst in the packaging. The colour is a beautiful flush pink, and the powder grains are super duper fine (and hence do not sink into the enlarged pores (although I don’t have them anymore because of my CNP Pore Shrinking Treatment hurhurhur)). One layer gives you a natural tint while 2-3 layers will give a pink blush on the cheeks. There’s a very slight glowy finish (due to the white/pearly/iridiscent shimmer pearl-balls) that’s believable. For a brighter glow and stronger pink, try MAC’s Mineralise Blush.
- Beauty Tip: Using a large brush, tap the pearl-balls gently instead of stabbing/jabbing them with a vengeance. Build up the colour gradually and slowly with several gentle tapping motions on the apples of the cheeks.
The Verdict: It has a somewhat hefty price tag (US$53) for a rather miniscule size, so I’d classify this as an indulgence for those looking to reward themselves, or those who love collecting Guerlain Meteorites. The cardboard box seems ok(I suppose, if I’m not being picky), but it’s probably not an item I’d travel with, or an item that you can keep and admire for years on. That said, the colour is indeed gorgeous, giving a good balance of pigments and glow.
