Review: Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit

By Beautifulbuns

Sundays are fun days – I get to delve deep into the covers and blankets and spend a nong nong time with the BBP – Blankie, Bolster and Pillow. When I get the energy, I also try delving deep into the beauty stash to unearth some goodies to play with as well as to review. Here’s something I bought during the opening of Etude House’s largest Flagship store in the world, but as usual, couldn’t bring myself to use it (till now). Must. Do. Something. About. The. Hoarding.

I got this in Light Beige N02 (but this has a very very slight rosy tint to it)

I say…

The Packaging: It comes in a tube with a pump dispenser that requires quite a number of pumps to get the BB cream flowing (not sure if it’s for all the tubes or I just got a wonky one). It can stand on its own pretty well, but it doesn’t take much to tip it over, so I prefer to store it in the drawer lying down.

The Scent: There’s a faint powdery scent to it that is pretty negligible – I prolly wouldn’t have noticed it if I didn’t need to sniff it for this review.

The Texture: It’s creamy and smooth and spreads over the skin superrrr easily. It’s slightlyyyy creamier than the Stay Up Foundation.

The Effect: Upon application, it brightens up the skin (perhaps cos of its 16.5% pearl extract content) and has a mostly matte finish (perhaps a slight tinge of dewiness around the cheekbones and at certain angles). I’d give the coverage a medium rating for about 6.9/10 (still requires undereye concealer), and I also need to apply 2 layers on areas where there were subsiding acne blemishes (the Etude House Skin-Fit Foundation only needs one layer to cover those up). It’s pretty lightweight and doesn’t weigh down on the skin much. In terms of wear time – it lasts a decent 6 hours, but will slowly disappear, especially around the corners of the nose as well as the chin. Thankfully, no oxidisation splotches are visible. Phew.

The Verdict: I’m pretty impressed with Etude House’s BB Cream/Foundation/Base products – they’re affordable and yet perform pretty well with decent coverage and wear time. I’m pretty happy with this item, but I would just gravitate more towards the Stay-up Foundation as well as the Skin-Fit Foundation because of their greater capability in covering dark eye circles. If I had to use this, I’d pair it with my current favorite Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector. However, if you’re not a direct descendant of the panda or raccoon like I am (and therefore have less need for undereye coverage), this would be a pretty decent item to get.
