Review: Clarins Everlasting Cushion Foundation

By Beautifulbuns

And the list of cushion foundations goes on~! Here’s another cushion foundation that I’ve been trying out, and it’s not from a Korea brand. Instead, it’s from one of my favorite skincare brands – I remember very vividly my days of suffering from puberty pesky pimples, and Clarins was one of the first ever to help in banishing all these blemishes.

Using Shade 105 (it’s just ever-so-slightly too dark for me, and I’d say this is equivalent to NC20. I’m usually a NC15).

I say…

The Packaging: The usual compact with a tray that functions as both an airlock and also a puff holder. I like that when closed, the surface of this cushion is flat (Laneige’s Layering Cover Cushion has a curved surface), so I can stack things on top. Heh. Problems of a cushion junkie here.

The Scent: A light floral fragrance that’s quite pleasant.

The Texture/Application: Now I’ve never used this term before, but when I apply this, it just feels so comfortable on the skin. Using the puff, I press the product into the skin and somehow, it feels like it’s enveloping my skin in a cool veil of hydrating.  That said, the finish is more glowy and radiant (less of a velvet matte finish). Coverage is medium, with a very natural finish – kinda like a better version of your everyday skin.

The Verdict: A pretty good first try from the brand – in general, I feel that the cushion has more skincare than makeup benefits. It makes my skin feel so comforted, hydrated and soothed. In fact, I do think that the nice natural glowy finish I’m seeing is actually a hydrated radiant skin. After about 2-3 hours, I started seeing shine already, BUT when I tried blotting with an oil film, there wasn’t much sebum on the film. On the other hand, when I dabbed with a sheet of tissue, I did see some beige “stains”, which leads me to assume that the foundation portion isn’t actually sitting properly on the skin, but sort of “floating” atop the skin. I’d say this one would be better off for short days when you wanna create that illusion of good skin (just apply a few dabs of this), and/or are in need of some skin loving.
