Red Palm Oil for Your Natural Hair Care

By Rockitnapptural @Rockitnapptural
Red Palm Oil for your Natural Hair Care I was shopping at my local organic market this weekend (MOM's), when I came across a jar of Organic Red Palm oil. I wanted to try this in my hair some time ago but I never got around to picking up a jar until now.
What exactly is Red Palm oil? How is it beneficial to your hair? How can you incorporate the oil into your natural hair routine?
I remember my parents used to use this oil back in the day when they made popcorn, and it would turn the popcorn a yellow.
I've heard that Red Palm Oil could be used for natural hair care, so I decided to do a little more research to find out just how Red Palm oil could be used in my natural hair care regimen.
Red Palm oil is extremely beneficial for dry hair, and especially for natural hair. It is rich in Vitamins A, E (which are essential for the scalp and the root of the hair), antioxidants and also contains some of the highest levels of carotenes and tocotrienols than other food sources.
Red Palm oil has a great conditioning effect on the hair, and can be used as often as once a week in your natural hair care routine.

Some benefits of using Red Palm oil for natural hair care are:
  • strengthens the hair
  • helps prevent hair loss and breakage
  • smooths the hair
  • can make hair softer and silkier
  • can make the hair more bouncy
  • helps with brittle hair ends
  • promotes healthy scalp
  • long-term moisture retention
  • does not weigh hair down

Red Palm oil is a semi-solid oil with a reddish-orange hue that stains a bright color. The oil can potentially stain your clothing and hair tools if you're not being careful. Be sure to cover your hair with a plastic conditioning cap, and tie your hair up with a scarf or bonnet to prevent staining your pillows and bed linens if you're sleeping with the oil in your hair.
