Pre Race Pep Talk!

Hello! I know, I haven't had a chance to write in almost a week. Eeek. But I will make it up to you! I have my half marathon tomorrow morning and I am in Ottawa. Pre-race jitters? No way! I have been so busy at work, that I haven't even had a chance to think about the race or my time or being nervous. But now, I am sitting down after having a yummy pre-race meal and writing this blog and I am wondering if maybe I am getting a little nervous...
We just went and picked up our race kits. Check it out:

Pre Race Pep Talk!

Totally awesome shirt, huh?

I am trying to put together the perfect playlist for tomorrow. The only two things I have on my agenda tonight are: 1. Drink lots o' water 2. Put together a radical playlist. Oh and write thing blog post, so I guess three things. And a little foam rolling. So four. I will be honest, I have not trained properly for this 1/2 marathon. I haven't had the time to follow a proper training program the way that I did for my last 1/2. I have been getting out for runs on a fairly regular basis. With a busy work schedule, I have been lucking enough to run with co workers (which is awesome) and also by myself which I have enjoyed as well.
How is my trainer? He is well. My last workout with my trainer was on Monday morning at 7am.
My Trainer:
Monday morning was mine and Tara’s first session in all of September.  She’s been so busy with work, and I’ve seen first-hand how much work goes into opening a new GoodLife Fitness club (and I was only part of one club opening) and she’s opening 3 clubs … this week!!!  Her travels are taking her to Guelph one night, Newmarket the next, and oops … I don`t remember where on Saturday.  I was actually a little flattered she made time for me on Monday morning.  But, make time she did and had a great workout.  The game plan was to do all of her elbow extension work (chest, triceps, shoulders) with me because her next workout is on her own.  I wanted to make sure (for her shoulder`s sake) that I was with her through those movements and she would be left with the pulls and quad work on her own.  She fit in all 18 sets in her workout and was off to Guelph to kick it all off.  She chugged her protein drink, I wished her well, and that’s it.  As fast as she came … she left.  We don’t have another workout booked yet, but I’m emailing her next workout to her and can’t wait to hear how it goes.Me+(again):
I have a few pics from the last week. In case you missed it, we opening three...yes THREE new fitness clubs this week. All in Ontario and all were super successful. Thousands of new members are now living a fitter and healthier lifestyle.. in a gorgeous new state of the art fitness club. Yay!

One of three packed grand opening parties this week!

It's not every day you rub elbows with Olympians...or is it? Hello Silken Laumann. Look at me in my uniform and name tag.

We also squeezed in a Blue Jays baseball game. They lost. Maybe next year will be better.

What a week! I am exhausted, so I will end this blog post by saying I am off to do some pre bed foam rolling. I love foam rolling for a number of reasons including: flexibility, performance, and reduce injuries. My brother recommended some serious foam rolling tonight and even tomorrow. I also got some great advice from Chelsie who blogs over at Balance Not Scale. She is also running the Army Run tomorrow and said that I should tape up my blisters (from my new shoes) and not wear cotton socks. Sue Chambers, who is a VP of Operations at GoodLife Fitness said I need to drink water, water, water and put my feet up and relax tonight. She also gave me a few little packages of Vega electrolytes to replace all of my little electrolytes that I lose. I love little tips and pieces of advice from other runners and athletes. I have my lulu lemon wunder under crops ready to go as well as brand new compression socks...bright pink of course! Wearing compression socks will be a new experience for me so I will definitely let you guys know know it goes.
Ok. I am officially nervous. If you are reading this, think of me tomorrow morning between 9am-11am when I will be running my little heart out!!! I am as ready as I can be.
Do you have any pre race advice or tips? I would love to hear them!! Share. Share. Share.
Happy Reading,
Me+My Trainer
