Oh it's Wednesday alright. All day long.
As I am on the road this week, I don't have any recipes to share or workouts with my trainer to blog about. I have a Grand Opening Party at work tomorrow and a couple of really busy days ahead (including today!!). I got up early this morning and squeezed my workout in at 6:30am this morning, because I new today would be a long day and I didn't want to miss my workout.
Today was Day #3 of my unofficial #PlankAday Challenge. I am starting with myself. I want to do 100 minutes of planks this month and I am going to encourage everyone I work with to do the same. I had 4 co workers in on the action today...see? Well, one had to take the photo, but we all did the plank!
I also rocked out 20 minutes of interval training on the torture mill...ahem I mean step mill. As well as the following upper body workout:
3 rounds 12 reps (no rest in between exercises)
shoulder press 17.5 lb dumbells
bicep curls 30 lb bar
skull crushers 30 lb bar
1 minute rest
3 rounds 12 reps (no rest in between exercises)
lateral shoulder raise 12 lb dumbells
upright row 30 lb bar
tricep dips
Then of course the plank! Why planking? Why not? Who doesn't need a stronger core? It's something that everyone of all fitness levels can do, it's just a matter of how long they can do it. It's also really easy to see and measure improvements. So we did. 1 minute and 26 seconds. We agreed that once you dropped out of your plank, your job to was to encourage the other remaining plankers. Pretty amazing huh? Now if you are not on "The Twitter" or "The Instragram", that's ok. There are planking challenges all over twitter, but you don't need to take photos and post them...although it it much easier to prove that you did it when someone takes a photo. lol. I am doing it, I really am. 100 minutes of planks in September. I would love for you to join me!!
I do not have a workout scheduled for tomorrow, but think of me between 3-7pm Eastern Time when when I will be welcoming 1500-2000 people to their new fitness club home in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
As for my planking challenge: 95 minutes and 3 seconds to go...anyone else with me???
