We’ve all experienced it at some point of our lives - workplace stress.

5 Simple and Effective Ways to Combat Stress While Working

Although you can’t control everything when you are working, you can control yourself.

If you find yourself stuck in a difficult situation, here are some ways to manage stress while you work.

5 Effective Ways to Combat Work Related Stress

1.) Start your day right by having a plan in place.

Many people come to work already stressed.

Some start their day scrambling to get their kids ready for school, gulping down a cup of coffee instead of a healthy meal, and facing road rage on their way to work.

However, having a stressful morning makes you more reactive to stress at work.

For a stress-free day, start the day with proper planning, a positive attitude, and good nutrition.

2.) Schedule small breaks to increase your productivity.

In today’s modern world, many people spend the entire day at their desk - even working through lunch breaks.

While working all day may give you increased productivity, it can also create heightened stress levels. Manage your stress by taking small breaks.

This will clear your mind and prevent you from getting into an overwhelmed state.

Keep a stress free work zone.

3.) Avoid negative people and environments to reduce conflict.

Aside from the negative effects on your physical and emotional health, conflict among co-workers is very difficult to escape, so try to avoid conflict at work as much as possible.

Avoid gossip, don’t share personal opinions about politics or religion, and steer clear of colleagues who don’t work well of others.

4.) Prioritize responsibilities by creating an organized schedule.

Time management is one way to prioritize and organize things.

To do this, create a balanced schedule. All work and no play leads to mental and physical burnout.

Also, don’t over commit.

Delegate responsibility to others, as well. If you have too much on your plate, distinguish those that “should” or “must” be done.

When you’re healthy, you’re stronger and more resilient to stress.

5.) Stay active and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

When you’re healthy, you’re stronger and more resilient to stress. It doesn’t require a total lifestyle overhaul to become and stay healthy.

One of the major options is to get moving.

Exercise is a powerful stress reliever as it raises your heart rate and makes your body release happy hormones. Lessen alcohol content, choose healthy, organic food, and get enough sleep too.

How about you?
