Monsoon is sometimes an offseason in tourist parlance. Monsoon attracts Arab visitors from Gulf countries and also North Indians to Kerala during June to August. Hotels too reduce tariff by about 50 per cent and in some cases more.
According to director of Kerala Homestays and Tourism Society, there is revived interest for Kerala’s monsoon season even in European countries. “Though homestays don’t market monsoon as such, we regularly get foreign tourists who are interested in rain. Some of them love to soak up in rain, while others prefer to watch it,” he said. Considering the interest of tourists, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) was also planning to introduce a package by next week.
