Following the natural disaster of mid June, many people thought that traveling to Uttarakhand might not be safe but it was disclaimed by Amrita Rawat, Tourism Minister of Uttarakhand who said, 90% of the tourists pots are safe from tourism point of view which include Nainital, Mussoorie, Haridwar and Rishikesh.
These places were almost unaffected by the calamity, she said at the commencement of a campaign to provide boost to tourism in the Himalayan states which was organized in Delhi.
Only 10% of the tourist destinations including a part of the ‘Char Dham Yatra’ circuit experienced a huge damage, she said. She said that hard works are on the way for the steady growth of the damaged infrastructure in the religious circuits which is considered sacred by the Hindus. The hazardous floods which took the lives of hundreds of tourists and pilgrims created a feeling of unsafety among visitors who cancelled their bookings in hotels and resorts of Nainital and Mussoorie. A 14 km lengthy ropeway will be constructed between Gaurikund and the Kedarnath shrine which was deficiently smashed in the perilous floods said, Umakant Panwar Tourism Secretary of Uttarakhand. He said the state government has ignored the fee to visit high elevated areas to enhance venture tourism in Uttarakhnd.The campaign to enhance and boost tourism in the Himalayan States was launched by Chiranjeevi, Union Tourism Minister for Tourism.
