I got a juicer a couple Mothers Day’s ago and I always struggle using it often. I love it and have the best intentions to use it more but life can just get really busy. Chris Wimmer from HealthSmartLiving.com recreated a local juice recipe which happens to also have an awesome name. Thanks to Chris for sharing his favorite Red Detox Juice.
I got into juicing after trying a couple Groupons at a local Chicago juice bar. They were great but even at the Groupon price, it just wasn’t possible to enjoy fresh juice as much as I’d like. Soon I purchased the Omega VRT350 which is a great cold press juicer because it can juice anything Mother Nature ever intended us to juice & it has a 10 year warranty.
However, once I had the juicer I realized that I really loved the secret juice bar recipes and my first few juices weren’t that great. What to do? Ask the juice bar? Ah… Probably not going to work. So I tracked down one of my old juice bottles that I hadn’t recycled yet and looked at the ingredients for as much detail as possible.
What did I learn? The Maroon 5 had Beets, Carrots, Apple, Ginger, and Lemons. I assumed this was also the order of the most prominent ingredients too given the deep red color and the idea of stuffing a bunch of ginger or lemon into this drink would be interesting to say the least.
After several mini juicing parties and taste testings, I think we have cracked the ratio.
The Maroon 5 Detox
1 Large beet
1 Large organic apple
2 Large carrots (~ 7 inches and remove carrot greens)
1 Thumb size piece of ginger
½ Lemon with the peal removed
Enjoy!
