Laneige Silk Intense Lipstick

So what’s been on the lips of the whole Korean world recently? They’ve been buzzing about what’s been on Song Hye Kyo’s lips in That Winter, The Wind Blows, the new Silk Intense Lipstick from Laneige. In fact, my Korean girl friend told me that she tried to buy the lipstick and she couldn’t – it was sold out for a month at least.

Well, I must say that her puckers are looking luscious. smoochie coochies!

I received a piece of this at the Laneige Brighten Up Workshop (much appreciated, Laneige!) when it hadn’t been launched yet. And now is the time to unveil my luscious lips tooooo.

The 15 shades of the Laneige Silk Intense Lipstick

LR104 Pink Garden is somewhat 80% pink, 10% red and 10% coral.

Minimal creasing (despite direct application onto non-lip balmed lips)  and relatively good colour intensity. Not much gloss though.
So, do I look Somewhat Kyo yet? lol. I’m using the Hera HD Foundation, Hera HD Fix Powder, Esprique Melty Cheek Stick, CLIO Art Blusher (as a cheek highlighter), Etude House Face Designing Brightener (on the nose bridge), CLIO Gelspresso Eyeliner (review coming up soon!), and La Roche Posay Effaclar A.I on that budding pimple on my right cheek. heh.

I say… 

I like to put my makeup items through ridiculous tests. I once put the Laneige Natural Eyeliner through a 1-2 hour jjimjilbang (sauna) session in Korea, and I sometimes put my eyeliners / mascaras through a yoga class test. If the makeup survives, I’m so stocking up on it.  For lipsticks, I usually put them through the morning cracked lip test. If it looks good when applied directly onto my bare lips, I’m won over.

• The packaging is simple and functional. In fact, I quite like it for its plastic cover that doesn’t attract fingerprints the way free gifts in Singapore attract overnight queues.
• It’s a click top and twist-open mechanism – mostly idiot-proof but thought I’d still mention it.
• The colour is relatively rich (just one application) – you can see the change in my lip colour.
• However, it doesn’t fill in all the crevices in my lips – perhaps 90% coverage? You can barely notice it though.
• What’s more, this has very low gloss and shine factor. It looks relatively glossy because of the iridescent sparkles in the lipstick. I’d say it was more matte with sparkly bits (you know, like Edward Cullen all matte white + sparkly bits).
• That said, it actually feels creamy enough for me to try to blend the colour using only my lips.
• Because of its matte effect, just 1-2 coats are enough. Don’t apply any more cos then it’ll become patchy.
• The moisture levels are decent enough to cover up my dry lips.
• I also like that after eating and drinking, it leaves a slightly colour stain on my lips rather than showing blobs of colour patches.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the lipstick (well, impressed enough to write so much. I usually don’t write much on lipsticks). Or maybe I’m just feeling lonelyyyyyyy in the office. Who knows? hahaha.
