The Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi, is one of the most
preferred destinations. Undoubtedly, Kochi would top the list of destination
that a beauty seeker, adventurous mind and cultural diversity onlooker would
like to visit. At this wonderful land India’s first biennale- The Kochi Muziris
Biennale- was hosted. And this world class city without any dissent was awarded
this year’s ‘Best City Award’ by the news channel ‘CNBC Awaaz’.
The ‘CNBC Awaaz Travel Award’ is currently in its eighth year
and is considered as a prestigious award given to the best world class
destination, best organizations and service providers. The destinations are
judged by an objective study conducted by the news channel across multimedia
platforms.
This year the ‘CNBC Awaaz Travel Award’ was presented at a
function in Indore and the function was presided by Surendra Patwa,Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Culture
Minister. The award winners were selected by Kuki Chawla, chairman of Siddharth
Travels; Ashwini Kakkar, Vice- Chairman of Mercury Travels; a prominent jury
that was presided over by Amitabh Kant, Secretary of Department of Industrial
Policy & Promotion; and Ajeet Bajaj, MD of Snow Leopard Adventures.
Expressing
his delightment and well wishes toward the award winning city, the Tourism
Minister A.P. Anil Kumar, said that the selection of Kochi as the best city was
just a testimonial of the commercial vibrancy and robustness of the cultural
and traditional harmony that has grown over the past years in this magnificent
land.
Kerala Tourism Secretary, Sunman Billa said
that the award was the proof of prospering travel industry and also a medallion
for all those who have worked hard to make the Kochi Tourism a world class
experience.
He also added that amid the growing competition and increasing
tourist destinations in the country, it comes as great pride to the tourism
industry to set up new benchmarks and raise the standards of infrastructure and
other facilities a step ahead for the benefits of the tourists and the city
dwellers.
