Kenin and Lauren’s Week 6 Weight Loss Update

By Kenin Bassart @Constantramble

We are now finishing up the 6th week of our 90 Day Challenge and couldn’t be happier with the results in this weight loss update. While our overall losses have started to slow when measured by a scale we have both been thrilled with all the transformations that have been happening in our bodies. Neither of us can really believe how great we are starting to feel and how easy it has been to stay on track since we are doing this as part of a greater challenge. We are supporting each other as well as a whole weight loss community.

Lauren’s Week 6 – HIIT – Trading Fat for Muscle

This is week 6 of the 90 Day Challenge for me. Honestly, this might just be the longest that I have stuck to a diet and workout program. There is only one reason…success!

:)
I am losing fat off of my body and I have a continued increase in my energy levels. Kenin and I threw out our old scale and replaced it with a new scale that measures body fat.

In the last 6 weeks, my weight loss has slowed down a little. I am still losing weight, but at a much slower pace and I was getting frustrated. My clothes were fitting better. I was being complimented by friends that saw a difference. I couldn’t understand what my scale had against me. After a little conversation with my husband (who is looking spectacular) we decided it was time to put ole Bessie (the evil scale) out to pasture.

It turns out that my body is losing fat and replacing it with muscle. I have muscles!!

:D
Kenin and I started a high intensity interval training video a few weeks ago to burn some extra calories and get out 90 Day Challenge going in high gear. It turns out my body has been hiding muscles from me and they are coming out to play…finally! I am doing squats and lunges and planking. My body can plank! OMG! I am so full of energy that Zoe (our doggie) has been getting walks after our workout and now as soon as the video is done, she waits at the door for her daily walk. We are getting fit as a family and loving every moment of it.

Kenin’s Week 6 – Down another 4 Pounds!

It seems as if I finally broke that plateau that has been torturing me for the past week. As Lauren mentioned we retired our old scale and picked up a new one that added body fat % measurements, water content, and BMI. I’m a total stat junkie so that will give me a bunch of new numbers to play with, yay! Seriously though, as we all go through our own weight loss and fitness journey’s it really is important to focus on those Non Scale Victories (NSVs) when the metrics don’t seem to be moving in the right direction.

When I was stuck in my rut last week, I really had to focus quite a bit to keep my focus on working out and feeling good about my overall health. Doing that gave me enough positive energy to push through and let my body start burning off fat again. I also spent a lot of time focusing on my overall quality of life. My stamina has improved quite a bit, I have much higher levels of energy throughout my day, and quite frankly I’ve been happier! Sometimes we get so focused on the body image and weight loss part of a lifestyle change we really forget the more important part, the fact that our whole lives are really changing. On top of that, with this program, we get to help other people change their lives too, and that’s the biggest NSV of them all.
