I’m Back

By Hockettruns @WriteRunWrite

Well, I’m back to running outside, that is.

This week started out cloudy and cool (love that!) so I laced up and headed out. For a few weeks at least, my tennies haven’t seen the light of day. They’ve gotten accustomed to sitting by my front door, lonely and bored. But I did put them on and run on the trampoline.

:)

I think my shoes, along with my legs, were rejoicing. Now it’s day 3 and I feel good. Granted, I’ve put on a few pounds and I lost some of my conditioning, but I feel good out there; it’s good to be back!

Now I’m just trying to get myself conditioned to running in heat; and to me hot is anything above 72 degrees. Today it’s supposed to get up to 80+, and that’s hot! I felt it was already pretty toasty at 9:00 am this morning, during my run. My body felt a little tired; I had to walk at times. I know I can do better, and I will.

Heat and I don’t get along; even though I’m from Southern California. I guess I just can’t deal with it as well here in WA. But I’m making it a goal to learn how to perform well in heat; even with high humidity!

Never check your DMs on a run.

As you may know, I take my Microsoft Zune with me on almost every run. I use it for the music, but sometimes I’ll take a breather and open up the internet to check my twitter account.

Bad idea!

I had tweeted recently that I was turning off my cell phone and joked that no one was going to be able to “drunk dial” me anymore. Well, the other day I pulled over and used the library wi-fi while on my run. I logged into Twitter and noticed I had a DM from my friend Mike. He responded to my tweet about drunk dialing and he said:

“Great….who am I going to drunk dial now?”

Hahahahahahahahaaa! I was laughing all the way home. Man, that was some funny s%&*@!!! But I should definitely be more careful from now on; no more wi-fi while on the run!

And with that, I’ll talk to you all later! Have a run-filled day!

xo
