By Vishnudas
How to Reach Bekal One of the reasons that Kerala has a reputation for being a popular
destination in the country is the fact that it is replete with some of nature’s best gifts. Kerala is successful in so many ways.

It has some of the most prolific and outstanding literary geniuses. Also it has one of the highest literacy rates in the entire country. But above all it has one of the most thriving tourism industries in the country.

While there are some of the more conventional places that are brought to the forefront by the media, there are many places that are little known to most travelers. Bekal in Kerala is one such place.

Sometimes, this happens because the transport system in and around this place is not so good. Therefore the focus of this article will be to outline some of the key pointers on how to reach Bekal.

For those who like to travel by train there are three options that you could go for. Pallikere which is at about 4km from the town, Kasaragod which is about 8km and Kanhangad which is close to 13km away from the town. So whatever railway station works best for you is the one that you should opt for.

The taxi charges from the station to the heart of the town will be about 250 INR or a little more than that. Mangalore is the city that is pretty close to Bekal, at about 67 km. So it couldn’t take that much to travel there by bus or car as well. Coimbatore to Bekal is a little further at about 358 km whereas Bangalore to Bekal is 381 km apart.

Chennai is also further at about Bekal 704 km which means that rains would be a better option. Pune to Bekal which is also a popular route takes the longest so it is advisable to take the train for this 812 km drive.

If you want to travel by flights, however, then Mangalore is the closest airport. It is at about 50 kilometers away from Bekal. The international airport that is closest, though, is at about 180 kilometers in Karipur. Mangalore is a good option because it is well connected to most of the other cities in the country, especially the ones in South India.

There is much that you can do in this wonderful place. It is essentially a place where you can relax and where you can have some time for peace and quiet. The scenery is most popular and most people love the serenity that they experience here. Many people visit this place for that reason alone.

It is a good get away for those who live in the warm southern cities of the south especially. Even the government of Kerala has recently realized the importance the significance of this place as an important tourist center and is doing much to promote its tourism. The natural surroundings in and around Bekal are breathtaking.
