Home Remedies For Gum Disease - Tried and Tested Traditional Approaches

By Vicknesh @wellhealthblog
The figures for adults suffering from gum disease in one form or another is quite incredible. Some 70% plus of adults over the age of 35 suffer from gum problems. That sort of statistic goes to show two things. That in order for a figure that large to occur, gum disease is able to take root without people knowing about it till its too late. That most people with gum disease don't even know they have it.For those of you who are now experiencing the painful symptoms of gum disease. No quick fix should ever replace the treatment of a trained professional but in the mean time some of the more traditional practices should see you right until you get an appointment booked up with your dentist.
Gargling your mouth with peppermint oil, clove oil (diluted, be warned it is potent stuff). try a sodium bicarbonate mixture on the gums, this will reduce swelling. Green tea is said to help the swelling and discomfort that goes hand in hand with gum disease. Ginger root helps neutralize the acid in your mouth (again, be careful with ginger it is very strong). Mixing cinnamon with water and rinsing the mouth is said to be another good pain killer, also helping to kill bacteria that perpetuated gum disease.
Hopefully the above ideas will provide at least some relief, with clove oil and peppermint oil being the most effective. Remember; never leave the signs and symptoms of gum disease or gingivitis unchecked. Book an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.By Danny Lawrence
