Described as a "Burgundy Sheen" on Sephora's site. And I would agree with this. It is an absolutley gorgeous shade and is perfect for fall/winter. As for the formula, it is great, too. It is smooth and non-drying. But as far as formulas go, this is my second favorite lipstick (Lancome L'Absolu Nu and L'Absolu Rouge are tied for first) Considering this is a sheer lipstick, the staying power is amazing. I applied it, ate a cookie, ate Mexican food for lunch, sipped through a straw and the color was still there. This product leaves a stain on lips, which reduces applications. Now on for the distinguishing feature of this line..the tube. Obviously it is automatic and all you have to do is slide the tab down; no more losing caps. It has a very antique and elegant look; it is sure to be an eye catcher when you pull it of your bag. The shade is similar to Lancome's L'Absolu Rouge in Berry Noir and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned; these are just full coverage. All three of these are great, dark burgundy/berry shades for fair skin, and that is hard to find.
This is an amazing color and product, but as far as formula goes, I definitley prefer Lancome(more creamy and moisturizing.) The picture does it no justice, but you have to work with what you have.
