GIS Digitizer

Adecco Employment Services is currently looking for an experienced GIS Digitizer for one of our clients in the Saint John area. The sucessful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and have a general understanding of electrical systems.


The GIS Digitizer responsibilities include:

* Receiving information from multiple sources and using ArcGIS to enter the information into the GIS database
* Editing existing data to the GIS database
* Providing a visual representation of the physical infrastructure that makes up the electrical distribution system
* Catalog sketch maps in the GIS that have been completed by field technician
* Using ArcMap tools, digitize information provided on the paper sketch maps
* Apply digitizing rules to ensure that data entered into the GIS can be used to generate accurate maps
* Update attributes and location of electric system features in the GIS as indicated by work reports or other sources. Examples include street lights, transformers, poles, etc.
* Update billing codes on street light features in the GIS using a combination of billing information available in CIS and from other sources
* Produce map products as requested from various departments

Safety Responsibility:
* Conduct yourself to ensure your own safety as well as the safety of your co-workers
* Complete tasks in compliance with NBOHS Act and Regulations
* Adhere to Safety Policies of Saint John Energy
* Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Business Methods/Practices
* Accept and use safety training
* Participate fully in all safety activities and safety improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

* Must be able work in an office environment and sit for extended periods of time (40 hours per week)
* Attention to detail is required at all times
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience using ArcMap, Caris, AutoCad, or MicroStation is considered an asset
