Fitness Friday: The Crappy Hotel Gym

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

Another week on the road which means an opportunity to get creative with workouts. If you happen to follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, please do) I snapped a picture of the crappy gym at the Holiday Inn I was staying at this week. With how much I travel I stay at a lot of those business traveler type of hotels (Hampton Inn’s, Hilton Garden Inn’s, Courtyards & Holiday Inn’s) and they all have one thing in common. Crappy gyms.

Usually they have a few cardio machines, a crusty old water dispenser and a tv tuned into some news channel. If I am lucky they may have a weight machine. But most do not. Since I am in the middle of Best Body Bootcamp I did my best to get workouts in. I brought a resistance band with to at least be able to do some of the exercises and made modifications where I could.

After my very modified workout I was so frustrated that I actually sent a tweet to the Holiday Inn. As a female traveler I get really frustrated with the lack of amenities focused on women. And I don’t feel like I am asking for much; a better blow dryer, nicer toiletries, a fully equipped gym and healthier breakfast options.

Here’s is that lackluster exchange with Holiday Inn. Basically a we aren’t listening. Thanks for that Holiday Inn.

Dear @HolidayInn , I wish you would focus more on female travelers. Better gyms, blow dryers, healthier food & nicer toiletries.
