Fitness Friday: First Week of Crossfit

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

Scott and I each purchased a 2 month unlimited Groupon to Crossfit Workhouse. We are so excited! Scott tends to be more excited about working out when it involves an organized activity. He think it pushes him more and I tend to agree. We kicked off our two months of crossfit last Saturday and had a blast. We did a circuit style workout with a minute at each station:

12/6/14 WOD

Sumo Squats (holding a kettlebell)

Ball Slams

Kettlebell Swings

Hammer

Biking

Plank

6 rounds of that! It was crazy hard. Each time I was pushing myself to do at least one more rep than the time before. The two things I had a really hard time with? Ball slams and the hammer. That darn hammer is heavy. And I just haven’t spent much time chopping wood. But Scott did so well with the hammer, he has chopped so much wood for our  fireplace this year! I am proud to say I did beat Scott… Even though I am not an overly competitive person it was nice to be at least close with the number of reps the guys and long time crossfitters were doing. Considering I am a newbie at this it went really well.

Fitness Friday: First Week of Crossfit

I went again Wednesday and it was more a cardio focus. This one was brutal. 30 minutes to do ten rounds of the a circuit. I did 8.4 rounds and was pretty proud of myself. Some of the moves were new to me this time as well!

12/10/14

10 cal row

30 count jump rope or 10 double unders (I can not do double unders)

10 push-ups

5 box jumps

5 back extensions

5 elbows to knee (hanging on the pullup bar and bringing your knees up to your elbows)

5 wall ball

There were 6 of us and I was so darn close to finishing! Pretty proud of myself for getting through 8+ I checked my calorie burn after and it was 520! That’s a hardcore workout. We went into the first workout with a lot of trepidation but it was so much fun. Everyone encourages and they always have modifications. My goal is to keep making progress and do the moves safely. I will not be pushing myself so hard I get hurt. That’s not worth it to me. There were a few things that I learned about myself this week, I am really good at pushing myself and I can get really deep into a squat. Thank you flexibility!
