Fight Toxins

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Millennial Central for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating.

I have blogged many times about making the switch to more natural cleaners. The two most important things that I look for in cleaners:

  1. They have to work. My counters, floors, and every surface in my home needs to be sparking clean.
  2. I need to be able to trust the ingredients! With 2 dogs touching every surface, friends kids and nieces and nephews I need to trust what is in those cleaners.

Seventh Generation to working to help spread awareness about the importance of chemical reform in the United States. Why is this important? Just look at the current law.

Current Law is Outdated

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was passed in 1976 and, unlike other major environmental laws, has never been updated. Some people might assume that the chemicals used to make products sold in the U.S., like toys and food containers, are regulated and tested for safety — but they are not.

  • Over 80,000 chemicals are currently available for use in the market. The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) grandfathered in 62,000 chemicals when enacted in 1976 and over 20,000 have since been added. The EPA has required very few of these to be tested for their impacts on human health and the environment.
  • TSCA makes it difficult for consumers and businesses to find the information they need to identify which chemicals are safe and unsafe.

Fight Toxins

So what I am doing about this?

  • Every cleaner in my home is now from Seventh Generation (or a similar brand) that has a commitment to eliminating those toxic substances in our cleaners. #Fighttoxins
  • I signed the petition. And so should you!

Now go through your cleaning cabinet and evaluate what small changes you could make to #fighttoxins!
