Featured Video: Sequence for Warming Up Your Feet, Ankles, and Lower Legs

Feet 102 by Aaron Siskind

I'm excited to announce I'll be doing a new series of videos on balancing! I'm going to start with two videos that provide different ways of warming up for a balance practice. I'll follow the warmup videos with videos that provide instructions for learning how to practice individual classic yoga balance poses, with many different options that will make the poses as accessible as possible. Right now I'm planning to release a new video every two weeks.

Today, in my first video, I demonstrate some of my favorite warmups for the feet, ankles, and lower legs. This short, seated practice is a great way to prepare for balancing poses and standing poses, as well as activities like hiking and cycling. You can also do the sequence as a stand-alone practice anytime you want to give your feet, ankles, and calves some love. If you don't want to practice the entire sequence, you can practice just a few of the exercises on your own or even just one that feels especially good. Enjoy! Props needed: 1 block, 1 strap, 1 firm blanketIf you're interested in working on balance in a full-length class, you might want to check out my brand-new online class Balance Challenge, which is the latest addition to my on-demand weekly class library (see here to learn about my weekly class subscription). Download Barrie’s free Guide to Home Yoga Practiceright here.
