EXCLUSIVE Review: Laneige Cushion Highlighter

By Beautifulbuns

Helloooo everybardy! Did you miss me yesterday? I was out with a flu (don’t worry, it’s not MERS since it starts with a fever and cough), and was essentially snoozing the entire day cos of the meds which caused a major case of the ZZZs. Surprisingly, even though it’s the flu, I didn’t have to blow my nose with a tissue much cos everything was clogged in the head. In a tribute to the nose, here’s a review on something that I often use on it – a highlighter to create the illusion of a higher nose bridge heh.

Roughly the same size as the IOPE Air Cushion Blusher and smaller than Laneige’s BB Cushion Pore Control

Laneige Cushion Highlighter (8)
A surprising shade of light beige (I was kinda expecting a whitish-pearl and shimmery sheen)

The light beige blends out beautifully into a very faint pinkish-beige shade

I say…

The Packaging: It’s a downsized version of the usual BB cushions, measuring in at about 6-7cm in diameter and 2-3cm in height. It’s about the same size as IOPE’s Air Cushion Blusher. It’s in the usual compact form with a tray that functions as both a sponge puff holder as well as a moisture lock. It comes with an inbuilt mirror and puff as well.

Refill Compatibility: YES with IOPE Air Cushion Blusher. NO with all other BB cushions (because this Laneige Cushion Highlighter is smaller).

The Scent: It smells WONDERFUL – kinda similar to the Laneige Pore Control BB cushion with a fruity-floral fragrance that I love.

The Application / Texture: It’s the usual watery, lightweight and blendable liquid texture – it goes onto the skin smoothly and doesn’t drag (although there’s no need to actually apply it onto a large surface area). Using either the puff or a beauty blender sponge (or a clean finger if you’re hardpressed to find either), gently dab a few spots onto the nose bridge and then blend it out. Voila – you can haz a super nose bridge too!

  • Beauty Tip: Areas to highlight are the nose bridge, the C-zone (from the top of your outer brows to your temple and then curve down inwards to the cheekbones), above your Cupid’s Bow, in a V-shape below your eyes to the mid of the cheek. (lemme know if you want a visual representation of this)

The Verdict: I’m actually pretty happy with this. Granted, I am sort of biased towards it since I’m a sucker for all things Kbeauty, but hey, I’m not such a blindly-biased nutjob. It comes in a compact and convenient easy-to-carry-around case with a puff for hands-free application, and it smells great! That aside, the color itself is a gorgeous, barely visible pearly-beige sheen that’s different from the usual highlighters I use that have a much higher shine level. This gives a subtle and believeable glow that’s perfect for emulating that Kpop star dewy finish, and doesn’t go overboard with that too-shiny or too-0ily look. It’s ultra lightweight and doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin / doesn’t cake with your existing base makeup. The only downside (if I had to nitpick) would be that it’s much chunkier compared to carrying around the usual powder-type highlighter slim cases. Overall, a pretty awesome addition to my BB cushion family and something you can consider trying if you’re new to the world of highlighters and are looking for one that is subtle and yet buildable into a non-OTT finish.

Available in Singapore from July 2015 onwards. More information available here.
