Event: Of Kiehl’s, Copper and Price Cuts

By Beautifulbuns

I’m back from Korea! Didja miss me? It’s kinda hard not to (plus, you’ll have to say yes, since I know you’re eagerly awaiting my fuller and more detailed blog entries of where and what I did in Korea). Hah.

Anyhoos, here’s one that I was supposed to put up before I left, but I was just too swamped. On the week that I left for Korea, I attended a Kiehl’s event.

Now, I don’t know what specifically to call it, since there were quite a number of things announced at the event.  I’ll just let my photos do the talking (plus I’m really exhausted – I touched down at Singapore Changi Airport at 1am, slept at 2am and was at work by 5.45am). Heh. Forgive me this once?

Upon entering the event venue at Fullerton Bay Hotel (it’s one swanky ass hotel) – we’re greeted by this booth that lets us register for customized accessories. Christina chose a necklace pendant while I went for the boring with a keychain.

Say hello to Kiehl’s new products – the Powerful Wrinkle and Pore Reducing Cream and Eye Cream

A close-up of the products before we were herded down to the presentation room where there was more man-goodies

The witty, humourous, charming and engaging George Young. Now, I’ve attended plentyyyy of events before, and very few emcees/hosts are praise-worthy. Yasmin / Jasmine from the Dermal Therapy event was a good one, but George Young totally kicked her ass simply cos he’s so damned good looking. Yes, I am shallow. heh.

George carefully scruntinising these ladies – the lady on the right is clearly a Korean, but I don’t know who she is. All I know is that she looks damn good for a 42 year old – tsunami of jealousy crashes -

George saying that he’ll only kiss ONE lady tonight. Or that he’s selling kisses for $1 each. I kid. He’s emphasising the key ingredient in the new range of products, which is copper.

The results that you are supposed to get from using the new Powerful Wrinkle and Pore Reducing Cream.

After the product presentation, we move into the second portion – where a short story about Kiehl’s is brought to life via sand drawing / sand art. Basically, it’s creating visuals out of sand scattered over a light box, and a really interesting method of making us pay attention to their history instead of the usual powerpoint slides. Well done, Kiehl’s

:D

Kiehl’s  started out as a corner drugstore…

… with products made from all natural ingredients…

kiehlscopperevent (12)
… and since then, the history of Kiehl’s was written…

kiehlscopperevent (13)
… with Kiehl’s now helping three causes – 1) HIV/AIDS education, prevention and research, 2) protecting and nurturing the environment, and 3) children’s well-being

Ok, this looks vaguely like a baby sonogram, but just click it to enlarge it, you’ll see that it’s about Kiehl’s growing globally (and possibly to outerspace?!), with George Young holding the Kiehl’s flag. Awesome much that he doesn’t need oxygen. hah.

kiehlscopperevent (15)
Kiehl’s and its achievements/outlets, and how they are giving back by having price cuts…

kiehlscopperevent (16)
… which leads to the next segment of the event, a Kiehl’s version of The Price Is Right. Basically, two contestants go up and guess what the new price of the product is. If you are the closest, you get to win the full-sized product! If not, you’ll still get a travel sample. Not bad indeed!

kiehlscopperevent (17)
The winners of some of the rounds – nah, the lady in coral pants didn’t win all the time, she’s Zinc from Kiehl’s (ironically contrasted against the new Copper products hurhurhur)

One last photo of George simple cos he’s hawt and charming despite having some charcoal marks on his face – oh wait, that’s a beard and ‘stache. The man himself even said that if we should mock him, we should affectionately call him James Franco. That, or some spiders tap-danced across his face. hahaha.
