Leave it to the prestige brands to take it to a higher level – Dior redefined my existing notion of cosy at their Pre-Fall bloggers’ event . I knew any Dior event was gonna be posh-nosh, but I didn’t expect to be in a room with 5 other bloggers. Yes, it was -that- cosy. -cue socially awkward silence and inane banter about the weather-
However, the bright side of it being so cosy was that for once I got to interact with all the staff and more importantly, the stuff, which are so ridiculously and luxuriously desirable. Now this event took place some months back, so since my memory periodically fails me, some details are slightly fuzzy. Why is this post so belated? Cos there was an embargo on the information for a month or so. but I guess I took it a little too far lol.
So posh, yes yes? Us invading the Dior office after work hours – I would assume there’s an immaculately groomed lady sitting here otherwise.
Forget the drinks and canapes – What’s dees I spy with my little greedy eye?
It’s Dior’s Pre-Fall range of products, with the star being their new skincare range for V-line faces
(or should my face be :> instead?) Here’s the Dior Ultra-Stretch Reshaping Serum, Remodeling Creme and V-liner Ultra-Stretch Corset Mask.
L: The Diorskin Forever Extreme Control for ultra-lasting poreless makeup even in summer (or so they say) $90 for the compact + powder, $66 for the refill. (yes, my review will come soon. It’s just wayyy too pretty for me to open)
R: Dior Addict Eau Delice ($78, $122 or $178), a lightweight floral and fruity scent that actually made me thirsty cos of its cranberry top notes. slurp.
So pretty so pretty so pretty! The Dior Vernis nail lacquer , $37 each, comes in 4 colours while the Diorblush Cheek Creme also comes in 4 colours, $45 each.
Dior’s makeup mastro demonstrating how we can use the new Capture Lift products. First comes the usual cleansing and prepping. He also did a face massage using the serum (by slighting “pinching” your skin from the tip of the chin towards the ear, portion by portion. Do a sweeping motion for your neck, starting from the throat towards the back). He also emphasised that you should massage and sweep all the way to the back of the ears for more efficacy. P.S. Notice that her jaw is slightly slack in this photo above.
That’s the new Capture Lift V-Liner Ultra-Stretch Corset Mask. It’s gel-like, similar to the
Holika Holika Plumping Heart V Line Mask. This mask is said to give you a more precise jaw line after just 10 minutes of use. I’ll try it soon to let you know if it works!
Psst – notice that her jawline is visibly tighter? Woah -mindblown- The mask really does work! (either that, or a combination of the massage techniques using the cream/serum and the mask)
Now that her face is more fully prepped, he moves on to the makeup techniques – how you can get a more V-line, or rather, a smaller face with strategic highlighting. (I feel bad for drawing on the model’s face but that’s the only way you can see).
The 5 points for highlighting are:
- The nose bridge
- The tip of the chin
- The lower outer corners of your lips ( the two upward strokes in this poorly-reproduced version –> \__/)
- Under your eye in a V-shape, merging at the apple of the cheek (see my graffiti on the model above)
- The nasolabial fold line and just under your cheekbones. (again, see my graffiti on the model above)
See how the highlighting under the cheekbones result in a nice illusion of deeper cheekbones? Highlighting the nasolabial line/fold also helps reflect light, making the line seem less obvious and your skin looks more “plumped” up. Naise trick there.
Back to the stars: from L-R: The Capture Lift V-liner Ultra-Stretch Corset Mask, $168, Capture Lift Ultra-Stretch Reshaping Serum, $199 and Capture Lift Ultra-Stretch Remodeling Creme, $180.
As you can see, the Serum and Creme are so easily absorbed without leaving a greasy film or sticky surface. What’s more, can you see a slight redness? Personally, it’s like an indicator of the serum / creme working (for my skin anyways). And yes yes, I know I owe you guys a review on the products – well, the products that I have anyway, which are the Capture Lift V-liner Ultra-Stretch Corset Mask,, the Diorskin Forever Extreme Control and.. something else.. I can’t quite remember cos I stashed it into the Too-Pretty-To-Open storage area. Will delve in soooooooon.
