Essie Nail Lacquer 82 Buy Me a CameoEssie is a brand I’ve been wanting to try for a long time because whenever I’ve asked someone with lovely nail about the polish they are wearing, I’m often told that it’s Essie. You can find Essie in Boots, Superdrug and lots of other beauty shops/salons. It costs £7.99 a bottle which is quite reasonable considering the strength of this nail polish and the huge array of available colours. I’ve been wearing it now for a full week and I have one slight chip on one of my nails, and that’s it. The rest of my nails are all in good condition, and I’m super impressed with that!

I applied 1 layer of base coat, 2 of the Essie Nail Lacquer (shade 82 Buy Me a Cameo) and 1 layer of top coat to finish it off. That’s all it’s needed which is great for easy maintenance. The image above is actually after 1 coat of the Essie nail polish so you can see it’s quite strong, but it does have some really obvious brush marks. These are minimised with the second coat, and even more so with the addition of a top coat. I did find that the brush strokes are more obvious than L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Nail Varnish, for example, but that’s because Essie’s nail polish isn’t plastic-y like L’Oréal‘s, B‘s or Nails Inc‘s. Also, the obvious brush stroke marks were possibly caused by the brush that came with the polish because although it’s quite wide and covers most of my nail well, there are a couple of strands which are longer than the rest and can’t be pulled out easily . I’ll probably have to trim these with some scissors but that will probably ruin the scissors so I’m not keen to do that…

Otherwise I’m very happy with Essie. I’m sure the brush I have in my nail polish is a one off – or at least I hope it is because I’m planning on buying plenty of other colours. The polish itself dries quickly between coats and I didn’t notice any smudging whatsoever. The result is smooth, and application is quick and easy. These polishes are definitely worth the money due to the staying power alone! I would have liked some smaller bottles to choose from though as I don’t like to wear the same shade over and over. The one I’m wearing in the image, in particular, is much more shiny than I was expecting, but I still like the finish and I would definitely recommend these nail polishes.
