Empties | January 2013
Well that’s January done and dusted already. I can’t believe it. It feels like it was Christmas yesterday! I have one hell of a lot of empties to get through this month so I’ll just get straight into it.

Empties | January 2013
LUSH Curly Wurly Shampoo
My hair is naturally very curly but also very fine which is a nightmare combination. The SA in LUSH said I should try and sample of this shampoo and I was completely dubious. It has the consistency of a thick, creamy, leave in conditioner and I was sure it would weigh down my hair. I was so very wrong. This stuff is AMAZING!
Repurchase?Well technically it won’t be a repurchase since this was a free sample, but I will definitely be rushing out the buy a full size of this once my current shampoo is finished.
LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub
I’ve already gushed over this lip scrub in my Christmas at LUSH post so you can take a look at all the details there, however it’s safe to say I love this product.

Repurchase? Sadly this was a Limited Edition Christmas product, however I did grab THREE of these lips scrubs in the LUSH sale. Yes, it’s that good.

LUSH Ponche Shower Gel
This product also featured in my Christmas at LUSH post. It smells like orange juice and tequila. What’s not to love? Although this isn’t ideal for morning use when you wake up with a monster hangover!

Repurchase? This was a limited edition Christmas product and is no longer available so I won’t be able to repurchase this.

Dr Hauschka Facial Toner
I wrote a full review of this product here. To summerise though, I’m a big fan of Dr Hauschka in general, and I really like a toner which sprays directly on to the face rather than going on with a cotton pad. Dr Hauschka claims that this toner can be used in the evenings after cleansing and you shouldn’t need to use a moisturiser afterwards (although your skin may go through a short adjustment period).

Repurchase? No. Purely because I’m currently working my way through the Dr Hauschka Clarifying Toner which I think will be better suited to my oily/combination skin
Dr Hauschka Roll On Deodorant
I published a post recently about how hard it can be to pick up a good cruelty free deodorant. In it I mentioned this one from Dr Hauschka. It does the job as well as any of your big brand non cf deodorants, and in some cases it does it better. You can read my full review here

Repurchase?Definately.

Soap & Glory Girligo Spray On Body Moisturising Mist
I received a set of 3 Soap and Glory body sprays as a secret santa present at the Bloggers Christmas Party. I was drawn to this one first because it doubles up as a moisturiser. As it sprays on, it’s great if you’re a little lazy when it comes to moisturising your body. It smells so much like an Impulse body spray I used to drown myself in as a young teenager! Using it made me feel so nostalgic. Mr Juicy never usually gives a seconds thought to what products I’m using but he adored the smell of this and he is most upset that I’ve used it all up!

Repurchase? I have a lot of body moisturisers to work my way through at the moment, but I will definitely purchase this again at some point.
Sanctuary Body Lotion
I received this body lotion as part of a gift set for Christmas. It isn’t cruelty free but as I only started to transition to cruelty free in the second half of 2012, I’ve been using up any non cruelty free products I’ve received as gifts. My friends and family are slowly starting to come round to the idea, and by next Christmas they’ll hopefully know what brands I do and don’t like to buy from. God, I sound like such a brat!! I’m always grateful for any gifts I receive of course!
This lotion is supposed to have ginger in it, but I just get that non-specific perfume scent from it. It has a very watery texture which does mean that a little goes a long way though, but it also took quite a while to sink into my skin.

Repurchase?No.
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturising Shampoo
This is another non cf product which I received as part of a Christmas gift. Putting the cf issue aside, this shampoo is ok. It’s nothing special. It’s full of chemicals which aren’t actually any good for your hair, and it has a really strong perfumey scent. I love a nice smelling shampoo, but once you start using more natural shampoos the artificial fragrance of non-natural brands starts to smell so chemically.

Repurchase?I think you can guess it’s a no!

Gielly Green Hand & Body Wash
I received this product in this Amarya Beauty Box and I’ve been using it up when I go for a swim after work. It’s the ideal size for a little travel wash bag if you shower at the gym. This wasn’t groundbreakingly awesome but the packaging and very subtle grapefruit scent make this a good unisex product. Ideal if the man in your life point blank refuses to use the bottle of LUSH Snow Fairy thats currently in your bathroom!
Repurchase? I would repurchase this for Mr Juicy. Especially as a travel size for holida
ys.
Dior Miss Cheri Dior L’Eau
I’m a signature scent kind of gal and this has been my signature scent for a few years now. It has to be the L’Eau version, not the original one though! L’Eau is light and easy to wear, and the main scent is orange blossom with some soft floral undertones. I am so fussy when it comes to perfumes and I find one that I really fall in love with one only once in a blue moon. This one, I simply adore.

Repurchase? No. Firstly this is being discontinued in Europe and replaced with Miss Cheri Dior Fraise. Secondly, it isn’t cruelty free. I’m literally broken hearted!

REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream
I received this product as a little extra sample with an order I placed on Amarya’s website. I love REN products but this sample is so small that it’s difficult to get a true feel for how it performs. It was nice product and has been good for traveling and taking to the gym.

Repurchase? Probably not. it was nice enough but it didn’t blow me away.

Empties | January 2013 Morrison’s Chique Hair Removal Cream
I’m a big fan of hair removal creams over shaving or waxing. I’ve had this one from Morrison’s in my stash for ages and finally gave it a go this month. I really wasn’t impressed. Even when I left it on for the minimum amount of time (4 minutes), it still really irritated my skin and I ended up with red, sore spots all over my legs...attractive. It did remove all my hair, but it’s not really worth it!

Repurchase? No way. As well as being too harsh it also isn’t cruelty free. I’ll be seeing if Superdrug have an own brand I can try or I might even give Moom a go!

Soap & Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser
I sang this products praises on my blog recently and I highly recommend it as an alternative to the Liz Earle Hot Cleanse & Polish. It works a treat at removing make up, is gentle and smells amazing. I prefer to use it with my Konjac sponge rather than the muslin cloth it comes with though.
Repurchase?Yes, yes and thrice YES!
Sophyto Omega Daily Moisturiser
I got this product in this Amarya Beauty Box. It’s lovely and gentle, it sinks into the skin well and it’s pretty much scentless. I like the size of this sample because you get a good week or so of twice daily use so you can get a really sense of whether the product is for you or not.

Repurchase? Not at the moment. I also have a Balancing Daily Moisturiser from Sophyto to try so I’ll be giving that a good to see which one of the two samples I prefer.
Has anyone used up any great products? I can't believe the number of empties I have this month!
Lisa
