Duck Island Body LotionI received the Duck Island body lotion in my January 2013 Glossybox, and I have to say I’m more than a little bit underwhelmed by it. Admittedly I’m not particularly fussed about body lotions – I just don’t see much benefit in the vast majority of them, and this is certainly no exception to the rule.

My 30ml mandarin and bergamot body lotion sample is a yellow runny liquid which, quite frankly, smells of toilet cleaner. It’s not nice at all; it’s not fresh, fruity and refreshing. It smells like cheap toilet bleach.Duck Island Body LotionThe texture isn’t much better either because I like body lotions to be creamy and soothing, and the Duck Island body lotion is runny and a bit sticky. Duck Island recommend using this body lotion sparingly, but I didn’t like the way it feels on my skin because it’s uncomfortable. On shaved legs I was left with a stinging sensation, and in other places I didn’t notice any difference other than dryness or stickiness.

I was really disappointed with this body lotion because I know that Duck Island is available in hotels so I would have expected something which was more classy, pleasant smelling, and actually good quality. OK, it’s paraben and oil-free, but I don’t care about that when I don’t see any positive differences when using this body lotion. I don’t even care that it absorbs quickly because it stinks and I’d rather not have it on me at all. For £24.95 you can get 500ml of this rubbish – but perhaps try it out at a hotel first before even thinking about trying this ‘zesty’ body lotion out.
