Dream Job of Nicole Jordan

By Dreamjobdiva

I even do not remember how, when and even where I have met this beautiful and cheerful woman, it must have been one of the networking events run in The Hague. To be honest, unfortunately I have never seen Nicole performing, however few minutes spent with her brings such a pleasure that I can only imagine what impact she may have while on stage.

Name:    Dr. Nicole Jordan

Country / city:  Currently in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, but normally based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

What is your dream?

My dream is to travel the world doing what I love to do: singing!

What is my dream job?

Singing. I have made my career as a singer by immersing myself in anything and everything related to singing. I am a performer, teacher, and have a PhD in Music Psychology. I divide my time between mainland Europe, Canada, and Trinidad & Tobago.

How did you achieve your goal = dream job? / how do you plan to achieve your goal=dream job?

I am always pursuing my dream. It never ends. I just love what I do – it may sound like a cliché, but have made my passion my work. That’s really the fundamental truth to satisfaction in my work. My work can be unreliable and it takes a great deal of energy, but I keep pursuing it despite the ups and downs.

What is your tip to others concerning the Dream Job / Life?

Listen to your heart, but most importantly, don’t be afraid to follow it. I realised my heart was speaking loud and clear about what I wanted to do, but it was fear that was stopping me from following it. Now I know that to ignore my heart is far worse than taking the risk and following it.

Who are you?

I am a Trinidadian-born, Canadian-raised soprano, educated in the UK, and living in The Netherlands. I’m a kind of singing gypsy. The world is my home. I sing primarily early and contemporary music, but I love all classical repertoire. I teach voice out of the ‘Open Up Studios’ in The Hague and Rotterdam. I also direct my own ensemble called Alchemy. I am currently a Visiting Artist at the University of Trinidad & Tobago where I am teaching voice and Music Psychology.
