My mom turned 50 this past weekend. My dad put me in charge of keeping her out while he decorated the house and got everything ready. I told her I was going to take her to lunch and a movie to celebrate her birthday. My husband was able to join us. We had a very nice time but I was extremely nervous. I'm not good at lying, especially to my parents. I'm pretty much done with surprise parties. Way too stressful and too many secrets.
In the end, we had a lot of fun and that's all that matters. My mom LOVES disco and that whole era so my dad came up with the idea to have a disco dance party for her. There was a disco ball, bead curtains, a record player, vintage sodas and a whole lot of dancing.
I opted for the hippie look because I knew I'd wear the vest again.
On Sunday we went to San Diego for the day. Stephen got a new job and starts this week so we needed to return his keys to his previous place of employment. He was with Lumber Liquidators for five years. He started as an Assistant Manager and worked his way up to Store Manager. Last year he was offered the Store Manager position of the highest volume store in the region. I am so extremely proud of him and all he has accomplished in the last five years but he is onto bigger and better things. A lot of prayers were said over the last year for him to find a new opportunity and we thank God that those prayers were answered.
After our eventful day on Saturday and spending all of Sunday in San Diego, I was ready to lounge. Yesterday I made it a point to not change out of my jammies. I did brush my teeth and wash my face and I did do laundry but the rest of the day was spent on the couch. Stephen and I finished Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce on Netflix and I started The Mysteries of Laura - I love Debra Messing. Ever since Will & Grace.
I did get back to my regular eating plan yesterday. I've been logging my food for 32 days straight. I do not regret getting back on MyFitnessPal. It's really helping me stay accountable.
Last week I dropped 1.8 pounds and then I dropped another 1.8 pounds since Saturday. I have no idea how I lost weight over the weekend - I enjoyed cake and tequila at my mom's birthday party. I'll take it though! I've lost 12.2 pounds since December 20th. I'm pretty sure I weigh less than I did at my wedding now...but I'm just guessing because I didn't weigh myself around my wedding. I feel really good. My goal is to lose another 5 pounds by my birthday next month. Just a mini goal I have for myself.
