Dining out with the Husband

By Makemeupmandy @mandywebb28
How has everyone been? Life has obviously gotten in the way of my blogging - always work to be done, kids to be fed, baby & pet poos to be cleaned, a new dog to be fetched from 2 hours away, a new phone to be bought after old one got smashed and the never ending et ceteras...
Recently, my husband and I got to sneak off for one night and have dinner. Pure luxury when you have 2 kids and no family around and barely any friends. It was very much needed.
We decided to try our luck again and have dinner at this fine dining restaurant in our little town. We have been there 3 times without making a booking and all 3 times, it was always full.
Finally, on this weekday night, we tried our luck and there was... no one at all. We actually had the entire place to ourselves!
I really love the decor of this place. It is actually an old house built in the 50s or 60s that has been renovated and turned into a restaurant. You can still see the original mailbox, doorway etc. There was even a fireplace and they have the same pressed steel ceilings we have in our house!

It's funny the owner of the restaurant was telling us some of the artwork was too sensual to be put up as they have customers with kids. The owner had to pack away some with nudity etc.

The food was of course, splendid! The owners are a mother and son team and we chatted with them for about an hour after we were done with our meal. That's my husband and me - always talkative, always chatting to anyone. We could see the passion in the son (he was the chef) when he talked about food chemistry, doing art with food etc. I'm sure he didn't phrase it all in such a bleak manner. He definitely had passion and it always shows!

When Husband & I were dating, we used to always sit next to each other when we dine out. You know, always had to be close, always had to whisper and giggle and laugh. Very typical love bird behavior.
That night when the owner served us, we were joking about how we never sit next to each other anymore. The owner told us she's had couples who sit diagonally and never talk or make any eye contact at all!
Well, we eventually did sit side by side. And were joking around, laughing... probably with the help of some whiskey!
