Is it hard to imagine having a body that you’re proud of? A body that you don’t mind looking at in the mirror?
Just like anything else in life, long-term accomplishment depends on the mindset you maintain.
This is especially true if you’re seeking weight loss help; without the right mindset, weight management is fleeting.
In the “Mindset for Success” post, you learned some steps on how to create a positive mindset. Today, we are going to discuss the visualization step in more detail.
The basics of visualization
Your physical reality happens twice- first in your head, and then in your world. This applies to weight management, because until you can picture yourself as a fit and healthy woman, you will never achieve long-term weight management success.
Your external success (i.e., weight management, increased strength) can never surpass what is visualized. So, if you can’t see it, you won’t achieve it.
However, from personal experience, I understand that it is sometimes hard to visualize anything. I sometimes wish I was like a good friend of mine when it comes to visualizing things. Seriously, he dreams in color; it’s amazing.
But, I came across strategies that are helping me increase my ability to see my results before I achieve them. Now, I’m going to share them with you
Steps to Visualize Your Success
1. Affirmations: These positive statements are so important if you want to initiate success. If you want a successful life, or a fit body, then implant your desires to your heart with affirmations.
You create your world through positive or negative thoughts and words. Typically, you use present tense, first person words such as, “I am…” or “I choose to…”.
The word that follows “am” usually ends in “-ing”. For instance, “I am sitting in Key West with my feet in the hot sand…”, or “I am fulfilling my dream of coaching and teaching inner city children…”. Present tense and action words make your affirmations powerful.
Having trouble accepting present tense affirmations?
It happens. Here is a method I use to help my heart accept my desires.
Say, “There are many women around the world that have lost weight and kept it off without having to use harsh diets or grueling exercise programs.”
Or, “Everyday there are women who learn to love their bodies regardless of their shape or size, and yet they are attractive and lovable because they are confident and happy.”
“There are women who learned to love their bodies while reaching their weight loss goals- and are highly successful at maintaining their ideal weight.”
When you use third person statements, your subconscious is able to accept them as fact, which helps to increase your confidence that your desires can happen for you.
2. Visualize. Here is where the colorful dreams begin to happen. Now that you have your desires in your heart, you can create the dreams you want in your mind.
Your brain sees pictures- the more positive pictures you visualize, the more apt your brain creates that world for you. So if you want to look and feel sexy, confident, and successful, then here is the time to see that life for yourself!
So, it’s important that you do not skip step #1. Align your heart with your desires, and you increase your chances of designing the body you want, whether your desires are positive or negative.
Summary
Affirm, then visualize. If you want a fit body that you can maintain as long as you possibly can, then begin with your mindset. Start by building a strong personal foundation, so that you can create the body you desire and deserve.
