Critical Action Step to Prevent Weight Re-Gain: Having the Right Mindset for Weight Loss

Are you familiar with friends and family that lost 20, 30, or 40+ pounds, only to watch them gain all that weight back and more?  

You ask them, “What happened?  You were doing so good?”  You think their willpower is low and if they couldn’t do it, then neither can you.

So what did happen?  Why did they gain the weight back? 

One reason they gained their weight back is because they didn’t a strong enough purpose for their weight loss, and they didn’t have the right mindset for weight loss to overcome challenges that arise during their efforts. Read “Creating an Exercise Purpose” here.

Today, it’s all about having the right mindset for weight loss so that you can stay sexy forever!

How to Create the Right Mindset for Weight Loss Success

1.  Overcome self-limiting beliefs: Your mind, body, and spirit always want to be on the same page with each other.  

No matter if you always exercise or eat right, if you still hate your body and everything else about yourself, you will be back at square one very soon.  Begin to love yourself now, and you will build a stronger foundation for weight loss success.

Here is some advice to develop the right mindset for weight loss.  Ask yourself:

  1. How important is losing weight/ changing your shape/ getting healthier or more fit to you really?
  2. If those goals are important, what are you doing to get closer to achieving them?
  3. If you are not doing what it takes to get closer to your goals, what is getting in the way? (Normally it’s one or more of these: lack of focus and clarity of what you want and why you want it; lack of strategy and planning skills; lack of exercise skills; mindset towards yourself and your body; and creating an environment that is supportive of your goals)
  4. What else do you think could be getting in the way?
  5. What hidden rules or beliefs do you think you have about yourself that could be preventing you from reaching your health and fitness goals?
  6. What will you do with this new information?
