Clinique High Impact Mascara

I was lucky enough to be invited to a VIP party at the Clinique counter in Bluewater in April, and as part of the launch I was given a skin consultation and the choice between a free mascara and a lipstick. You can probably tell which one I chose, but have I regretted my decision?

No, I actually really like this mascara and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it. If I’m honest I hadn’t even considered Clinique for mascaras as I’ve always associated them with skin care products so I wasn’t expecting very much from this mascara. However I like the fact that it’s so much better than I had been expecting because it’s creamy without being gloopy, and it glides on incredibly well, plus so much more.

Like the Benefit Bad Gal mascara or the MeMeMe FatCat mascara, this one can be built up for a subtle look to one which is a lot more bold and daring. The difference between this Clinique High Impact mascara and those 2 is that the Clinique one builds up more quickly and more evenly so you’ll only need 1 and a half coats (touch ups!) for an impressive result. What’s more, it separates the lashes incredibly well, yet it’s still able to lengthen and volumise for the high impact result that it says on the tube. And, to top it off, this mascara lasts all day, it doesn’t flake off, it has some resistance to water, and yet it comes off well with make up remover. Certainly an impressive combination!

It costs £16 for an 8ml tube which is twice as much as brands such as Rimmel, Maybelline, etc, but it’s not as much as Benefit mascaras and I genuinely think this one is much better. And seeing as you only need to do a couple of quick coats of this mascara it’ll probably last longer than most other high street alternatives. What’s not to like?
