Bloggers for Health: Healthy Burger Recipe

By Lisagray @juicysatsuma
Unfortunately, as I’ve been so busy recently I didn’t participate in last week's BFH post on perceptions of beauty so I’m making up for it with a healthy burger recipe! One thing I will say on the topic though is that the gossip magazines this week either have “Wow Look How Awesome Cheryl Cole looks!!” or “Poor Cheryl Cole Looks Painfully Thin!! on the front of them *sigh* If she can’t win then what hope is there for the rest of us?
Anyway, on to the recipe! I like recipes that make my favorite foods healthier as that’s so much more appealing than eating pre-packaged diet meals. So this is my healthy take on the much loved burger!
Ingredients to Make 6 Burgers
750g of turkey mince (so much better for you than beef mince!)
½ an onion chopped into small pieces
2 carrots peeled and grated
2 tablespoons of light salt soy sauce
2 teaspoons of fresh, chopped ginger
½ a teaspoon of salt
Pepper to taste

2. Form into 6 equal sized patties with your hands.

3. Set the grill at a medium temperature and cook the patties on the grill for around 5 minutes each side or until no longer pink in the middle. (Much better for you than frying them!)
4. Eat
How easy is that?? You can barely call it cooking!
The soy sauce and ginger in these burgers gives them a bit of an asian flavor which is just delicious and of course you can freeze them (before cooking) if you don’t plan to eat them all at once!

Remember to make sure they are cooked through well since you are using poultry meat rather than red meat. I like to serve mine with a nice side salad and a little smattering of low sat fat chips.
If you give these a try, let me know what you think!
