Beauty Review | NYX Nude on Nude Palette

By Lisagray @juicysatsuma
Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the past two years, you’re bound to have heard of Urban Decay’s infamous Naked palette, as well as it’s predecessors Naked 2 and Naked Basics. Inevitably any palette of nudes which has come along afterwards is hailed as a ‘dupe’, but really, did Urban Decay invent the nude eye shadow? Were we all running around wearing lime green until the Naked palette came along? I don’t think we were.

On that note, lets take a look at NYX’s Nude on Nude palette as a great palette in it’s own right, without making tired comparisons to the Naked palette. I picked up Nude on Nude from TK Maxx for £14.99, but if you can’t find it there you can buy it online here directly from NYX for £25.

This palette contains 20 eye shadows, 10 lip colours, a mirror and 2 applicators. What drew me to this palette, apart from the great value for money, was the range of eye shadow colours. Some are shimmery, some are matt. They range from the whitest white to beige, taupe, bronze, gold, true brown, soft grey, silver and the blackest black and them some! The swatches below are of one swipe of each color from the palette to try and give a true representation. These colours are all completely build-able though to achieve the look you want. The pigmentation of these is very impressive for the price and the staying power is excellent, even on my oily eyelids.

The lip colours are like lip glosses in texture but aren’t sticky. The formulas are all slightly sheer but build-able. As with the eye shadows, the lip colours range from very shimmery to completely matt.
These lip colours have been great for experimenting with colours I would never usually pick for myself if I was buying a single lipstick. The mauve color on the right hand side is the perfect example. I would never pick this kind of shade usually but I gave it a go on my lips from this palette, and it looks very sweet and lovely on.

Below I’ve created an everyday bronze smoky eye using the Nude on Nude palette. I’ve used a light, medium and dark bronze on my eyelid, using the medium shade to line my lower lash line. Also, I used one of the beige highlight colours on the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up and make my eyes pop. This is just one of many looks you could create with this palette.

Yes I am wearing a pink leopard print dressing gown here. Please don't judge me!

All in all I’m really pleased with this palette and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, extensive range of nudes, with the added bonus of having a few interesting lip colours to experiment with. NYX are also completely cruelty free. Happy days!
