Basic Smokey Eye Tutorial Ever wanted to know how to do a basic smokey eye? Are you new to the world of makeup, and still trying to figure it out? Or are you here just for the extra tips? Regardless, I’m going to tell you all how to do a basic smokey eye look! Smokey eyes can make a girl look really done-up and look great at night time. Let’s get started! Step 1: Apply eye shadow primer. The first thing you should always do before putting on any eye shadow is apply a primer for your eyes. This will help your eye shadow stay on all day and help to hold it into place while you’re wearing it. This is especially important when you’re doing something more elaborate than natural looking eye makeup, such as a smokey eye. If your shadows crease while you’re wearing dark colors, it will look like a muddy mess! We don’t want that now, do we? The number one primer that I would recommend is the Urban Decay eye shadow primer potion. This is the one I use, and it really works wonders! Step 2: Highlight your brow bone. Apply a very light color, I recommend off-white, but if you have very dark skin, a very light brown would do, to the area under your eyebrow. This will exaggerate the arch of your brows, and bring light to the eye area. It will also be a good contrast to all the darker colors we will be applying sooner. Step 3: Color you lid. Using a medium brown color, apply this with a shader brush to your eyelids. This is going to be the base color that we start off with, so you don’t want to pick anything that’s too dark. Step 4: Darken your crease. With anything from a darker brown to a black, use a fluffy blending brush to apply this in your crease. Use windshield-wiper motions to blend and distribute the color throughout your crease. Make sure it’s blended well, and blend with the color you used on your brow bone, but don’t go too high up or too far out. Step 5: Brighten you tear duct. On the inner corner of your eye, apply a very light shimmery shadow to the area to brighten up the over all eye. I recommend a shimmery white. Step 6: Apply eyeliner. Use black eyeliner on your water line, lower lash line, and upper lash line to define your eye shape. Step 7: Accentuate your eyelashes. Use mascara to define, lengthen, and volumize your lashes. Apply falsies for extra drama, if that’s what you want! Now you’re done! After completing all of these steps, you will have a simple smokey eye. This is a nice and easy way to add some drama to your makeup and really make your eyes stand out. Make sure you rock this makeup look with a fabulous outfit, and have lots of fun tonight, wherever you go! Tell me how it went in the comment section down below!
