Summary:
B Complete are a new brand for me – I spotted them in Superdrug and decided to give them a go. Their prices are actually quite high for Superdrug, and you can buy this nail polish for around £4.99 or their foundations for around £10. Not massively expensive, but seeing as Superdrug are typically known for cheaper brands this did make me think that B Complete might be a little bit more ‘high end’ than Rimmel or Maybelline.
Firstly, I liked the bottle of this nail polish because it’s simple, it isn’t cluttered and it has a nice lid. There aren’t many colours to choose from yet and most seem to be the safe ‘pastels’ option, but this one reminded me of a French manicure. It comes out a lot more ‘bubblegum pink’ than I thought it would, and I have to say I don’t really like it. I was after a polish which was a little more subtle than this. Having said that, it’s hard to be subtle with any of these B Complete nail polishes because the brush is actually quite wide and it’s difficult to be accurate, and I ended up with more nail polish around my fingernails than actually on them! The consistency isn’t great either because it’s like Nails Inc nail polishes but thicker, yet really runny at the same time. It’s hard to describe, but it doesn’t spread particularly well and the resulting nail coverage after one coat was actually quite weak and extremely uneven. Only after about 3 coats do you get a good, even coverage. Thankfully the layers dry relatively quickly.
The B Complete Long-Lasting nail polish is similar to Nails Inc because it forms a sort of plastic nail coating. Unlike lots of nail polishes which chip off, this one doesn’t; it peels off in one large piece. As such it feel smooth which is a good thing, but the staying power isn’t fantastic. I did notice that after a day of wearing this, there were bits peeling away at the top of most of my nails, although I reckon the polish would have lasted longer with top coat.
I’m in 2 minds about this polish because whilst it’s nice trying out a new brand when I honestly don’t know what it’ll be like, there is definitely comfort in familiarity. I think it would be good if there were more colours to choose from, and with a less wide brush applicator. I think the 8ml pot is a good size, but the nail polish needs to cover better and more evenly. There is room for improvement, but I don’t think I’ll be buying another nail polish when I know that the Barry M ones are better and cheaper. This is a good alternative to Nails Inc though, especially seeing as it costs half the price – I just don’t care much for Nails Inc products because like this one, I don’t like the plastic-y feel and uneven finish.
