April 2012 Amarya Beauty Box Review

By Lisagray @juicysatsuma
Long time, no blog! Apologies everyone, I’ve been really busy recently with the Easter holidays, work and few other exciting projects I’ve been working on (all will be revealed in due course!) This week I’m getting right back at it though with a review of April’s Amarya Beauty Box.*

So, what was in April’s box?

April 2012 Amarya Beauty Box ReviewFull Size (50ml) 100% Argan Oil by Simply Argan, RRP £21.00
I was really pleased to receive this as a full sized product this month. I’ve been toying with the idea of Argan Oil to control my frizzy hair years but it’s quite expensive if you end up disappointed! Accoridng to the box, Argan Oil can help treat many other things as well as dry frizzy hair including acne, eczema, wrinkles and stretch marks.

I tried this as a moisturiser yesterday and my first impression is that it doesn’t smell of anything (which is fine by me!) and it sinks into your skin very quickly. I woke up this morning with nice soft smooth skin however I think I prefer the REN facial oil I received in last month's box.
I also used this Argan Oil on my wet hair this morning and unfortunately I think I used too much! Once my hair was dry it looked oily and greasy and I had to pin my hair to my head to try and disguise it! However when I unpinned my hair this evening it did look nice and shiny and not at all frizzy. I definitely persevere with this as a treatment for frizzy hair and experiment a bit with the quantity I use!
I really like the idea of adding a few drops of Argan Oil to a bath to moisturise your skin so I’ll be trying that out soon too!

Sample Size Purely White Skin Brightening Cleanser by Jurlique, full size RRP £20.00
This was a very small sachet sample but it was more than enough for me to be super impressed! I will definately be buying a full sized version of this once I’ve ran out of my current cleanser.

April 2012 Amarya Beauty Box ReviewThere’s tiny little willow bark particles which give a very gentle exfoliating effect which I was worried about as I don’t like the idea of exfoliating twice a day everyday, however the effect is very mild. The texture is a little strange, but not unpleasant. The closest thing I can think to compare it too is frogspawn but don’t let that put you off!
April 2012 Amarya Beauty Box ReviewThis cleanser removed every scrap of make up from my face and yet felt so, so mild! My face felt cleaner than it has in a long time and my skin felt soft and nourished rather than tight and dry.
I think this could be the start of a love affair with Jurlique!
Sample Size Protein Build Shampoo by Evolve, full size RRP £9.99
This was another small sachet sample that I ended up loving! Last month I received a full sized John Masters shampoo but this one from Evolve is a million times better.

April 2012 Amarya Beauty Box ReviewIt’s formulated for dry, damaged and/or coloured hair and mine is all of these things! It had a really lovely, subtle sweet almond smell which is from the almond protein ingredient i.e. not synthetic! The texture is a nice, clear liquid rather than heavy and creamy. This is good news for me as I have fine, limp hair which can’t handle rich, creamy shampoos.
When I used this shampoo it foamed up really well which is very unusual for a “natural” shampoo as that foaming sensation is usually something which is artificially added to most shampoos. My hair was literally squeaky clean after one use use and every trace of OSIS Dust It powder was easily removed! If you’ve ever used Dust It you’ll know why this is so incredible!
I’ll definitely be buying this shampoo once I’ve ran out of my current one.
So to sum up my thoughts on this weeks beauty box....at first I was a little disappointed to receive only one decent sized product, but once I realised what product it was I was very pleased as it was something I wanted to try for a long time. I ended up loving the sample size products though, so now I wish I’d received one of them as my full size product! However, looking on the bright side I’ve discovered two excellent new products to add to my beauty regime and I’m going to persevere with the Argan Oil!
