My dearest darling daughter,
Today is the last day of 1st Grade to you and another milestone reached. I watch you grow up and part of my wants to stop time and hold you in my arms forever. You are forever loved and blessed and I am honored beyond belief to be your mom. I only hope and pray you know how much I love you.
This year I have striven to teach you three valuable lessons in life: love, charity, and forgiveness.
We are all human and each one of us makes mistakes, myself included. It will always be that way but by God's loving grace and mercy, we can be forgiven and trust me, His love is unconditional and never ending. I am trying to teach you this not only so you know how loved you are but so you can extend that love to others. I see you doing it and I see it when you don't know I am watching.
I remember the day when you stopped a boy from bullying another boy. He was just trying to pull on the kid's stuff but you stepped up and stopped it before it became anything bigger. My heart still swells with pride that you saw something was wrong and didn't turn a blind eye. You took action and walked up those stairs chatting with the boy who had his stuff pulled. You showed God's love even if you didn't realize you were doing it.
You are growing in strength, courage, and knowledge beyond belief. When we were talking about your school work you brought home and your paper on forces I asked you if you learned about energy in school - you know, energy like potential and kinetic energy. You said "no" and I then asked what you thought each meant and you gave me the perfect definition! I was shocked and asked you how. You and your dad proudly stated "Popular Mechanics!" I guess that Popular Mechanics for Kids on Amazon is a very good thing.
And your wisdom beyond your years never ceases to amaze me. Just the other night you leaned over to me and said, "Mom, I think Dad suffers from the negativity of want." I had to clarify that is what you said to me and it opened a very big discussion. Darling, you are right. Want can be negative especially if you always want more and can't be happy with what you have right now.
Continue to dream. Dream big! Have desires and goals but let God guide you to what is best for you. He will always give you what you need right when you need it and I will always be there by your side cheering you on, working with you, crying with you, listening to you, and helping you find your way.
I love you always my dear.
Love,
Mommy
