Adding To My Plan

By Heathernichole
I have a few exciting things to share with ya’ll. First and foremost, I got a gym membership!!! I was very fortunate to have a small gym in our clubhouse in Palm Desert so I haven’t had a gym membership in nearly a year. When we moved we knew we needed to join a gym but it was a really difficult decision. My fiancé is still working on getting a membership but I decided to go with a gym that is near my in-law’s house and my parent’s house so I can have access wherever I’m at. For those of you that don’t know, we’re currently staying with my in-laws but I spend a lot of time at my parent’s house too.
I emailed my trainer from two years ago (I can’t believe it’s been two years!) and I asked him if he had any specials going. I met with him last week and he was able to sign me up for the gym and we scheduled my first training session for this Thursday.
My trainer actually reads my blog. (I’m always so surprised when I hear about someone reading my blog. It’s like I get star stuck by my readers.) When we met up he said, “You know what you’re doing. Are you sure you want to do training again?” I was very honest with him and I told him, “I know what to do but the problem is I don’t always do it. I need to check in with you at least once a week to ensure I’m staying on track.” Last time I trained with him I refused to weigh in weekly because I was always afraid of what the scale would say but this time I am going to weigh in every week. I told him my main focus is my wedding dress right now.
He thinks my nutrition is good but we’re going to talk about it a little more on Thursday. I asked him if he thinks I need 164 grams of protein every day and he said no. He said I’d be fine with 120 grams which was a huge relief to me. I’ll probably alter my macros after we talk more. He also suggested I fill my macros with whole foods…no more sugary snacks. Buh-bye poptarts!
He was the one that actually introduced me to the Whole 30. He said as my wedding gets closer he’ll probably have me do a couple rounds, which is totally okay with me!
As of right now we are only going to train together once a week and the rest of the time I’ll be working out by myself. I’m really looking forward to this because I know he’ll hold me accountable and I am confident I will learn a lot from him.

I’m also on the hunt for an accountability tool. I do have a FitBit. It was the original one. I’m pretty sure it’s just called the FitBit. The only problem is I packed it so it’s in storage. I don’t know why I thought I wouldn’t need it.
I want something that will keep me motivated at the gym. I want to see how many calories I’ve burned but I also want to be able to wear it all day long. I like the idea of the Polar FT4 but I think I need something more. I think I’m leaning more towards the FitBit Flex or the Polar Loop. The Flex has tons of cute interchangeable bands so it can always match what I’m wearing (big plus in my book). BUT the Polar Loop has a heart rate monitor that you wear during your workouts to get the most accurate reading of your calories burned.
If anyone has any input of these, please share with me! I’ve been going back and forth for weeks now.
