My vacumn cleaner has been very much isolated and lonely for the last couple of weeks, devoid of any human interaction or any decent sunlight for that matter. It has been relegated to a dark little corner in the spare room.
As you might know, I received a wonderful sponsored Robomaid present for Mother's Day and so, have been very happily utilising her as my first choice vacumn instead.
I will say firstly that I am not new to robot vacumn cleaners. My parents own one and have always encouraged me to purchase one myself to help me with that vacumning chore. I do know a thing or two about robot vacumn cleaners and what to look out for, thanks to my mum's constant education & information.
The first thing I was really impressed with my Robomaid was the number of functions & choices I'm have. It doesn't just merely vacumn and does whatever it wants in whatever way.
There are 3 Auto modes:
Auto 1 - Robomaid will run until the battery is full used and then enter Docking Mode
Auto 2 - Robomaid will run for 30 minutes and then stop.
Auto 3 - Robomaid will run for 15 minutes then stop.
And 3 Spot modes:
Spot 1 - Robomaid will clean in a spiral (for 1 - 4 mins)
Spot 2 - Robomaid will clean in a zig-zag pattern (for 1 - 4 mins)
Spot 3 - Robomaid will follow the walls (approx. 10 mins)
And Docking mode:
where Robomaid will automatically begin to search for Docking Station to recharge when battery level is lower than 15%.
My mum's robot vacumn cleaner has only 2 modes.
So Robomaid WINS.
My mom was very impressed.
This means that when I need to let Robomaid run while I work at my desk, I can put it on Spot 3 perhaps. But when my bubba chucks crumbs on the kitchen floor or smashes my bowl of brekky cereal, I can just position Robomaid and let her run on Spot 1 (in a spiral). Then thank her for her work and back home she goes again.
One recent morning, I left my Milo cereal breakfast near the edge of table which resulted in the baby pulling it off and smashing everything on the ground. After picking up the cereal, I was left with a devastating aftermath of crumbs.
I will have you know that the Robomaid isn't perfect, like any other device. It's not clear in the picture but there were some crumbs stuck in the grooves which I later wiped off myself. But hey, she helped me with 99.9% of the work while I was trying to restrain an over zealous baby from trying to lick the ground
I will also have you know that since Robomaid is circular in shape, she doesn't always (or usually) get dirt/crumbs/yuckies in corners. So probably once a fortnight or once every 3 weeks, I will still whip out my old vacumn to do the dirty work.
But I have to say Robomaid has really, really helped take a huge load off me. I don't have to vacumn as regularly anymore, that is for sure.
Also, she vacumns under my bed. No, not a cowardly arm like mine just trying to reach wherever I can into the eerie darkness under the bed. Heck, this true maiden goes all out and personally goes all the way in under my bed & blasts off all that dust and dirt. I adore her, I do.
Can I also say that with robot vacumn cleaners, I have heard of pretty useless ones where you have to charge them for 16 hours only to get a pitiful 45 minutes usage?
I collected my Robomaid in person on a Wednesday when I was down in Sydney. I think the lovely PR people who I got to meet charged her for I-don't-know-how-long. The next morning, I just started using her. And I used her again the next day. And the next day etc etc. Can't be right, she's still going with no charging? I only had to recharge probably on the Monday - believe it or not!! Not recommended I'm sure but I was stoked at how awesome she was.
All in all, I will say that my Robomaid is definitely a great helper. I put her on duty when I'm too busy doing my work. Or when a friend is coming with just 15 minutes notice and I'm busy making the house look decent in other ways. As with any device, she is not all perfect. But for my general purposes, she definitely performs well and if my mom is impressed, then she is pretty good I'd say!
