A birthday cake for a special little girl. I didn’t have specific instructions or brief, but I knew (felt) that it had to be purple and gold. It wasn’t exactly a typical kids party, but a tea party on Sunday afternoon for the family. I skipped the fondant icing and used a Swiss Meringue Buttercream (of sorts) instead, more sophisticated for grown ups The swirly piping detail is similar to her mom’s wedding cake that I made a few years ago and thought it would stir subtle memories of that other happy day.
