2013 Year in Review: Top 5

By Anytimeyoga @anytimeyoga

Continued from here, it’s now time for the Top 5 posts, in terms of overall page views (which I realize is partly a reflection of what and where I choose to share), of 2013. As before, credit goes to Feministing as my source for the idea.

  • #5 — Stop projecting your misconceptions about fat onto my life. [CN: fat hate, body policing] — “Projection 1: All fat people ‘do it to themselves’ — i.e., ‘make themselves fat’ due to massive calorie intake and far too little exercise.”
  • #4 — Boobasana: Prone Poses — “Because for me, exhaling all the way onto my stomach — usually demonstrated with the arms lying back by the sides — is not a resting pose. Rather, it is a pose where my breasts push back against my chest, actively impairing the deep, restorative breaths this posture attempts to promote”
  • #3 — Hair — “At various points during the process, the stylist called the girl’s mother over to get input and approval for the girl’s hair choices. And yes, I could definitely tell from across the room that this girl had her own well-developed opinions about how her hair should look.”
  • #2 — Donut of Defiance [CN: weight loss] — “Before the semester break, my employer’s human resources department sent out an email advertising a district-wide New Year’s weight loss initiative.”
  • #1 — Your Boner, Your Responsibility [CN: sexual assault, rape culture] — “I’m sixteen, wearing a skirt at school for the first time since my freshman year.”
