A couple of days ago, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled its newest smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi4, which went on sale in China for the first time yesterday. We expected the phone to do well, given its high-end specs, but what happened was quite impressive, to be honest.
According to Xiaomi’s report, the entire first batch of Mi4 smartphones sold out in exactly 37 seconds. Xiaomi left out an important detail, however, and that’s how many smartphones were there in the first batch. Anything under 10,000 would make those 37 seconds less impressive.
From India comes an even more outstanding number – the Xiaomi Mi3 (Mi4′s predecessor) sold out in five seconds at a yesterday’s flash sale. The Mi3 went out of stock at Flipkart (Xiaomi’s retail partner in India), which is a lot shorter than the 39 minutes it took the company to sell the phones in the first flash sale last week. Just like with the Mi4, Xiaomi forgot to mention how many phones were there in the batch, but since rumours suggest there were around 10,000 units on sale last week, our guess is that the numbers are probably similar.
The good news is that the Xiaomi Mi4 will apparently be available in Europe after all, and Italy is the first country where you can now pre-order the Mi4. For a 16GB Mi4, you’ll need to set apart €394.90, while the 64GB version with LTE will become available later on.
