World's chicest cities for fashion lovers | Lacenruffles.com

One of the most interesting thing about following every fashion week in the world is more than just what dazzles me from the runway, it’s those flash mob style fashionistas who turn up at each event waiting to be snapped by the street photographers that makes the whole scene so vibrant and exhilarating to watch. Dying to get onto the VIP invite list of next year’s Paris or London fashion week? Do not despair! Pack your Louboutins & Manolos and travel to these 25 cities, a style at a time. These are places where red carpet fashion catwalk shows take place around every corner throughout the year, with fashion-hungry street photographers ambushing and ready to snap your most stylish shots.

If Paris, London and Milan all sound like ‘been there & done that’ for you, here I’m listing my top 5 count down of lesser-known chicest travel destinations that might not be on your bucket list yet:

5. Brisbane

Home to up and rising fashion labels such as Gail Sorronda and couture designer Bora Lee, this Queensland’s capital city is so much more than just flip flops and board shorts. The city swings into full bloom during the annual Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival.

4. Sydney

Sydney is the mecca for luxury brand followers from Bulgari to home-grown labels such as Zimmermann. So grab yourself cheap flights to Sydney and be prepared to shop up a storm!

3. Shanghai

Beneath the invasion from the West that’s most evident in the shopping area of Xintiandi, the feeling of old Shanghai is palpable from the moment you step into one of the qipao tailors that line both sides of Huaihai Lu. Of all the style to be be seen in Shanghai, none of them will match the iconic status of qipao being one the most feminine & seductive symbol of the orient.

2. Kyoto

A place where modern fashion meets thousand years of tradition and craftsmanship, Kyoto redefines what it means to be chic in the Asian countries. Shops selling bags and accessories made from vintage Kimono fabrics such as Nijusan-ya at Kawaramachi are must-see.

Chicest hotspot: Gion

Kyoto geisha

1. Moscow:

Moscow is the home to a creative class of style-conscious young people. Outdoor skating rinks during winter months at Gorky Park is the ultimate hangout place for hipsters with a touch of Russian hip.
