Today, October 2, is World Day for Farmed Animals. It is no coincidence that it is also Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, who once said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” As it is now, there are no great nations in the world.
Each year, billions of animals are exploited by humans, for science, for entertainment, for clothing, but more farmed animals are abused and killed for food than all of the other reasons combined. Chickens, cows, pigs, turkeys, sheep and other farmed animals endure shortened, pain-filled lives so that people around the world can have meat, dairy and eggs on their plates. It’s not right. They deserve better. They have the right to life and the right to live that life without abuse, just like you and I do. And we can only help them if we take a stand to not participate in their exploitation.
Please think of the animals. Please go vegan.
