Wingham Visit & My Top 30 Driving To The Country Songs

By Sarahohm @sarahohm
Good evening Beautiful,I just returned to my home in civilization after my weekend in the boonies. It was a fun weekend! I could have used a little less driving because it makes me so tired, but all in all it was a good trip. Dad and I had some amazing mussels (ANDREA! I spelled it correctly this time! Look at me go….), he BBQd the family steak and potatoes for dinner last night and it was so delicious. I ate so much. We had a campfire and I roasted hot dogs in true paleo tradition, and roasted them spider dog style so they looked cool and were more fun to eat obviously. This is what mine looked like…Wingham Visit & My Top 30 Driving To The Country SongsCool, huh?Today I had lunch with my Grandma. We went to a popular restaurant in Wingham called The Maitland and holy crap, I never realized how cheap it was to eat in Wingham. A meal of two pork chops, potatoes, veggies, soup or juice and coffee or tea was $12. I paid $10.25 for ONE beer on Friday night at the Blue Jays game…. It doesn’t make sense, but it was amazing to have lunch because well, $40 for 4 people to eat 4 full meals is pretty amazing.I went to Alyssa’s bridal shower and it was the first time I had ever been to a bridal shower before. I surprised Alyssa because she didn’t know I was coming up for it! That part was nice. We started off by making a scrap book page for her, thank god I found like 8 different pictures of her and I and our old friends so my page was packed full of pictures. It was awesome. Then we played a game of bingo where I won some candy, which I ate. Not paleo nor good in any form… I mean, it was delicious, but shit, I should have taken the laundry bag or ice cream scoop or something. After our game of Bingo, we played The Price Is Right with cleaning supplies. I lost. Shocking that I don’t know the prices of cleaning products. Then was the fun game of Make A Wedding Dress Out Of Toilet Paper. Thank god I got to be the model. Our dress unfortunately did not win. I was second out of 3, the girl who won first only won because she was like 12 years old…. And Alyssa can’t play fair and gave it to the little girl. I already told Alyssa she owes me a drink in two weeks when she’s in Toronto for Pride Weekend. She agreed. Glad we’re on the same page JOn the drive back from Wingham, I thought I’d risk my life and snap a few photos of where I grew up. Well, the drive sort of. There are lots of the following…

A lot of Amish people. There were more than usual

And I usually have all of these on shuffle. I literally sing whenever I`m in the car, and after 2.5 hours of driving each way, my throat is a little dry. Also, I`m sure a lot of people on the highway got a good show. I probably actually sound horrible, but to me I`m basically the next Shania...
I stuck to my diet pretty well this weekend with the exception of the candy. I was STARVING when I first got there, and  so I slipped into the grocery store before we went to meet my dad at the Wingham Legion, and I got myself a banana and some slices of turkey. Dinner was salad, steak and potatoes. Breakfast/Lunch at the restaurant was sausages, potatoes and salad. Then the lame candy. Then at the shower they had Sundae’s, but I opted for some frozen fruit that they had for toppings sans ice cream and had water instead of punch. On the way home I snacked on a bit of beef jerky. Not too bad! Tomorrow I’m back in the gym HARD. I’m thinking about doing some intervals on the treadmill and see how my shin splints are doing. I’m a bit nervous since I haven’t ran in a few weeks and I don’t want it to hurt, but I really want to start running again. Right after I finished my half-marathon I registered for another 16km race the weekend before my awards gala. I’m still registered for said race, which means I should probably start training at some point. Oy vey. I will definitely let you know if my leg hurts, fingers crossed and PLEASE wish me luck! How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? The MMVA’s are tonight which I had originally planned on going to, but it’s so disgustingly hot and sticky outside, I’m opting to pain my nails and creep Pinterest instead. Stay sweet.
xoxo
