It feels like a while since I’ve been at my computer, writing a post for you. It has been a while, actually. At least a week. Possibly longer than I’ve gone in the past year! It’s not due to a lack of topics, or not being inspired. Largely it’s been due to having no time, but also probably it’s because I have far too much running through my mind at the moment. I may have learnt more in the past week than I have in a year!
There’s so much that I’d love to share and I will, in time. Thinking about it, though, the most useful thing that I could possibly share with you right now is about why, and how, your health is combined with, and completely inextricable from, your life.
Why your health is intertwined with your life
Have you ever wondered why you feel sick when you get stressed? Or why, when everything is flowing really smoothly and you’re really happy, or you’re on holidays, you never become unwell? Well, I do too. It turns out, there’s more than a mindset to this. It’s not just about being in a more positive frame of mind, or feeling happier. There’s a real, scientifically-based reason behind this phenomenon.
Last week, I attended a conference by coach Benjamin J Harvey and it was mind-blowing. One of the points Ben made was scientifically-based, and although I am not going to attempt to repeat the science here, ultimately what it meant was that if you’re inspired, you can’t get a cold. The same neuro-receptors that receive feelings take on a cold – or not.
That’s why, when you’re out skiing, even though you are in an even colder environment than at work, you don’t contract the virus. The same receptors that receive the cold virus, equally receive inspiration and happiness. So, if you fill your receptors with inspiration and happiness, you can’t get a cold.
That’s scientifically based. Weird, right? I thought so, too.
What other illnesses could you possibly prevent?
It’s no secret that you can go to the doctor when you feel really, really unwell, and they are able to prescribe you with something. I love medicine and doctors, and they definitely have a hugely important place in life. However, what about the stuff that we can prevent on our own? Without ever needing to see a doctor? No one ever talks about that.
Our society is always about cure, rather than prevention. The reason I say this is not because you and I have a desire to get sick; rather, we do everything in our day-to-day power to prevent that from happening. Instead, perhaps some of the things that we do on a day-to-day basis contributes to illness.
Thinking about that, actually blows my mind. Talking about it brings up massive issues with our society that I’m not sure that I’m even ready, or willing, to face.
Taking all of this into account, I have at my disposal a number of tools that I have taken on myself to reduce my own perceived impact of these things – on me.
My own way to increase health and inspiration
Considering what I’ve learnt, and what I’m learning on a daily basis, I want you to be privy to exactly what I’m doing myself. Of course, this is going to evolve over time – everything is a journey. Here it is – for now:
- Let go of everything you ever believed to be true. I first encountered this studying at uni. I realised that everything I thought was true, wasn’t. All of the conditioning I had during school years was not real. Basically, life is how you construct it. As I grow and progress in life, this has become even more consolidated in my mind.
- You are your energy. We are all comprised of energy. Whether it’s negative or positive, that’s what we are bound to experience in life. It’s up to you to dictate that energy – but it should be comprised of both negativity and positivity. That’s our natural state.
- Everything in life is love. This is something that I learned from Ben Harvey. We are all coming from a place of love – and that’s the natural state that we’re born with. Sometimes, it can go wrong – absolutely. However, we’re all doing the best that we can do at any given moment with the tools we have at our disposal.
What are your thoughts? Is health intertwined with life?
